(bump from a new gamecube owner :D)
this applies mostly to people around sunnyvale area... however, that does not mean you can't get the same or similar deal if you're lucky enough...

i went to target at sunnyvale "mall" yesterday (on mathilda/washington)
they have the gamecube with super smash brother bundles (as of yesterday afternoon, around 6-7 black and several purple gc's left). this qualifies for the buy gamecube get metroid/starfox/RE0/mario deal ... total after tax, around 162$

next up, target near deanza college in cupertino has the offer where you buy gamecube, and you get the game+251 memory bundle (metroid, starfox, RE0, mario, animal crossing). however, they do not have the gc/SSBM deal

what i did was buy the gamecube at target sunnyvale, get gc/ssbm and free metroid
went to target cupertino, returned it, and bought the gc with the game+memory pack

so yesterday i spent around 216$ and get gamecube/ssbm, metroid prime + 251 memory, and animal crossing + 251 memory (i picked up the last one :D)

very nice late birthday gift for myself :D

anyways, for gamecube hunters around my area, you might want to consider traveling a bit and score some goodies for yourself ,)

now the wait for march 24 begins ....... -(

Just a reccomendation if you nee somethign ot bump you over for your Samgoody orders.

Get an S-Video cable if you're still using the standard RCA cables. Trust me, theres a HUGE difference, and I'm far from being a videophile. You can tell the difference very easily.

Got my Sega Soccer Slam today also. Took almost a week to get it from Samgoody but all is good and new.

Get the Monster S-Video Cable; you won't be disappointed...unless you mind spending $30.

Update on the problem I've been having with Buy-Rite Games:

Some history: I placed an order back on January 9th, was charged on January 10th. Called a coupon times but could never get an actual person on the line, and my multiple emails all went unanswered.

Okay, so I received an email yesterday saying my item has shipped, but it's been a month and a half now and what I paid $49 for back in January could have been had a week ago for $35. Hopefully, there won't be anything wrong with the shipment, but if there is I wouldn't be surprised considering how everything else has gone.

Conclusion: Beware making purchases from Buy-Rite. If you get your product on time, fine, but if you don't, there is very little accountability at this company, and not being able to cancel without a restocking fee (even if its been a month and they still haven't shipped) sucks too.

Okay, so far I've received only half of the order (the half I used as padding too!)... hoping the rest of the order doesn't take as long as it took for the first half to arrive.

Can somebody explain to me the (technical) difference between the RCA and S-Video cables (they seem to look the same to me from the online pic). I'm assuming the cable that came with my Gamecube is an RCA cable.

Does the Monster S-Video Cable connect directly to the GameCube? (might be dumb question LOL)

Yes, it sure does. It's a flagrant purple color, and it is super long at over 6 feet, but the construction of Monster cables can't be denied.

Those who want to get jiggy with SamGoody's 10% off everything deal along with that $5 off $30 coupon floating around better hurry and place their orders before this Saturday (March 1st) when those promotions expire ... Good luck in trying to find good titles that are not Unavailable, though.

Can the construction be denied? Absolutely not, just holding them, you can tell they're built very well. The debate comes in as to whether or not theres actually a noticeable difference in audio/video quality for the price you pay for them. Personally (and I'm NOT one to skimp on my electronics), I feel they're a waste of money.

i remember reading way back when come odd months ago about a comparo between composite/svid/component quality with pictures and all that..

basically the diff between composite and svideo does something to separate the colors so there isnt bleed in. picture comparo is night and day. Say a bose speaker vs a paradigm or B&W ;)

svideo vs component in normal 480i (not using a nice progressive or HD signal, which is what theyre supposed to be for in the first place) the difference becomes very slight, and only the squinting and concentrating user will notice a slightly better color wheel and sharpness. This is like the difference between those paradigm or B&Ws vs a speaker 3x as much. Defining and obsessive taste comes exponentially..

10$ svideo is about at 90-95% of what a 60-100$ component cable gives you I would guess..
And Im always one to hit that great price/performance ratio :)

In other news I just received my shining copies of soccer slam and FF9 yesterday, strike while the irons hot!

Star Fox Adventures is only $29.99 at WiredLounge.com

I also picked up Animal Crossing for $39.99 and Super Monkey Ball for $16.99, but they're both listed as Out of Stock right now.

If you've never bought from Wired Lounge, they're one of the better online stores. Good packing and fast shipping and they even give you a free bag of popcorn with each order. :D

Hey, those are pretty good prices. They have Mario Party 4 for $40, and Mortal Kombat for $30. What is their sales tax policy and shipping rates? I can't seem to find that info on their site. Thanks.

Man, I would have been all over Super Monkey Ball for only $16.99.

Just keep an eye on it. If it's listed at all, they'll most likely get more in stock, even if it's an older game. They were even restocking Dreamcast games up until a few months ago.
