Looks like Obama's main supporters are getting ready for their payoffs.

BIG LABOR BOSS TRUMKA: CARD CHECK 'WITHIN NEXT TERM' IF OBAMA WINS

by TONY LEE 5 Nov 2012, 12:30 PM PDT

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said that if President Barack Obama wins a second term, Americans should expect to see "card check" legislation "within the next term."

Trumka, whose unions are sending nearly 2,000 poll monitors to battleground states, told The Atlantic that Big Labor will demand the Obama administration pass legislation that would effectively end secret ballot elections to form unions.

When The Atlantic asked Trumka if he has given up on card check, Trumka said it was still the unions' top priority after 2012 if Obama wins, and they will never give up on it.

"You'll see it," Trumka said. "That's within the next term."

When asked how that could be "possible, without a Democratic House of Representatives or 60 votes in the Senate," Trumka smiled and said, "There's another election between now and then."

Card Check, known as the Employee Free Choice Act, would strip away rights from workers at companies where unions want to organize. Unions would be instantly recognized once a majority of employees sign authorization cards, and workers would be forced to sign those cards in public in front of union organizers and co-workers who may favor forming a union.

This would allow unions to intimidate workers into signing union cards. Union organizers would even be able to go to the homes of the workers to bully, threaten, and intimidate them into signing union membership cards.

Big Labor wanted Obama to pass Card Check legislation during his first term, but strong opposition from Democrats and Republicans prevented it from happening.

If Obama wins reelection, Big Labor will have had a critical role in it -- and Trumka, in no uncertain terms, has made certain they will expect Card Check legislation as payment during Obama's second term.

And if not, they'll refuse to support Obama for a third term?

Hmmm, not a campaign promise by Obama and not supported by Democrats in congress. Yep, I expect union home invasions to be approved in short order.

During the presidential election of 1800, a newspaper friendly to John Adams attacked his opponent thus:

If Thomas Jefferson wins, murder, robbery, rape, adultery, and incest will be openly taught and practiced. The air will be rent with the cries of the distressed, the soil will be soaked with blood, and the nation black with crimes. Are you prepared to see your dwellings in flames, female chastity violated, and children writhing on a pike?

Do you think that this same goal isn't their to priority if Romney wins? That is their goal no matter who is in office.

The goal is and will remain the same - mandatory union membership and dues for all workers to support a corrupt union leadership.

Which Presidential candidate will owe their job to the union bosses?

Which Presidential candidate will listen to their siren call if elected?

BTW, I think former SEIU chief Andy Stern was the most regular visitor to the White House in the first year of Obama being in office, but for the last couple years it has been Trumka.

:) that does seem to match the tone of these FUD posts -- echoes of older posts about Obama coming for our fishin' poles and table salt.

At least according to Glenn Beck, but then he never did deny what happened to that poor girl back in 1990:

PJ, the answer is simple. Both of them and just about every other one elected in the future if they become powerful enough.

I think that the most enlightening thing in my long hiatus from here has been the recognition that both parties' supporters can claim a legit victory in one key battle......that the other party will excuse just about every thing that their guy does while denying credit where it is due to the other party.

Just another reason that obama cant be trusted along with romney
Why the hell is this a reason not to trust Obama? Obama has said nothing of the sort, Democrats are opposed, Republicans are opposed.

(fiction) "If Obama is elected again, Incorruptible is going to go to playgrounds and stare at the little kids." (/fiction) "See, that's just another reason that Incorruptible can't be trusted."

Obviosuly obama isn't going to come out and say this but he believes in it. He removed the bust of Winston Churchill and doesn't like him and England but he wont come out and say it. See the difference

Epic fear mongering & gross misrepresentation.

Not surprising at all.

The current system allows management to bully, threaten & intimidate workers in the pre-election phase, which they do with frightening effectiveness. By the time the election takes place, union supporters have often been terminated of "unrelated reasons", exercising a chilling effect on worker sentiments. In the case of WalMart, they just abandon the location.

Isn't that the same that leftists do

Leftist! Leftist! Leftist!

There is no discernible "Left" in American politics, other than in the imaginations of right wing reactionaries. Just a lot of centrists of one stripe or another, and them.

Nobody of any importance is calling for the dictatorship of the proletariat, so you should stop pretending that they are.

Big Labor Boss Trumka: Card check 'within next term' if Obama wins

Big Business Owner Boss: Remainder of union jobs replaced by automation or outsourcing 'within next term' if Obama wins.

Honestly, who gives a fuck if Trumka gets what he wants? He represents a bunch of dying industries anyway. Card check is grasping at a straw of relevance that no longer exists for the dinosaur workers he represents.

That's not really true, but you'll believe it because you want to...

You can't offshore or automate service, distribution & retail workers, which is the current thrust of Union organizing.

Which is a joke, the unions have failed this country, by standing by silent at the behest of their democrat puppet masters as the higher paying manufacturing jobs have left this country due to trade agreements such as NAFTA, GATT, etc. and now they want us to think they are relevant because they go after the crumbs (low paid distribution and retail workers).

The unions should have broke free in the 70's and formed the much needed third party instead of relying on Democratic party which is becoming more and more corporatist and have become nothing but a bunch of Judases to the middle class.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2011/02/income-inequality-labor-union-decline

IN 2008, A LIBERAL Democrat was elected president. Landslide votes gave Democrats huge congressional majorities. Eight years of war and scandal and George W. Bush had stigmatized the Republican Party almost beyond redemption. A global financial crisis had discredited the disciples of free-market fundamentalism, and Americans were ready for serious change.

Or so it seemed. But two years later, Wall Street is back to earning record profits, and conservatives are triumphant. To understand why this happened, it's not enough to examine polls and tea parties and the makeup of Barack Obama's economic team. You have to understand how we fell so short, and what we rightfully should have expected from Obama's election. And you have to understand two crucial things about American politics.

The first is this: Income inequality has grown dramatically since the mid-'70s—far more in the US than in most advanced countries—and the gap is only partly related to college grads outperforming high-school grads. Rather, the bulk of our growing inequality has been a product of skyrocketing incomes among the richest 1 percent and—even more dramatically—among the top 0.1 percent. It has, in other words, been CEOs and Wall Street traders at the very tippy-top who are hoovering up vast sums of money from everyone, even those who by ordinary standards are pretty well off.

Second, American politicians don't care much about voters with moderate incomes. Princeton political scientist Larry Bartels studied the voting behavior of US senators in the early '90s and discovered that they respond far more to the desires of high-income groups than to anyone else. By itself, that's not a surprise. He also found that Republicans don't respond at all to the desires of voters with modest incomes. Maybe that's not a surprise, either. But this should be: Bartels found that Democratic senators don't respond to the desires of these voters, either. At all.

It doesn't take a multivariate correlation to conclude that these two things are tightly related: If politicians care almost exclusively about the concerns of the rich, it makes sense that over the past decades they've enacted policies that have ended up benefiting the rich. And if you're not rich yourself, this is a problem. First and foremost, it's an economic problem because it's siphoned vast sums of money from the pockets of most Americans into those of the ultrawealthy. At the same time, relentless concentration of wealth and power among the rich is deeply corrosive in a democracy, and this makes it a profoundly political problem as well.

Ssssh! The plan is to deny it could ever happen until the re-coronation, THEN point out what a grand idea it is.

Ah yes, card check will indeed mean the grandness of labor union heydays are coming back. Soon the energetic organizing of these groups will be upon us, and we'll welcome into the world countless new members of the International Brotherhood of Minimum Wage Part-Time Workers. I look forward to the launch of Local Chapter 123 representing the fry station cooks at Burger King, or Local 456 of Circle-K night shift cashiers.
