so I have the big interview with the regional recruiter for a very large company that I am trying to get hired in with. Its been a while since I did a real face to face interview. Give me some pointers if you could.

My one question that I do have, should I bring a copy of my resume? I already emailed it to him, and brought a copy the first time I came in. Overkill to bring it again?

Next question, is it ok to wear black shoes with light colored pants?

UPDATE:
went with black pants and black shoes, I mananged to spill on myself this morning.

Anyways about the interview. I arrived 15 minutes early, resume in hand, nicely dressed, freshly shaven and nervous as heck. It took the guy about 20 minutes to come out of his office to meet with me. He asked me the usual questions, I gave honest answers and made sure to look him in the eye. He seemed very interested in the way appliance sales worked, he didnt know it was as involved as it was. We ended up going over the time he had allotted for the interview, and he explained to me that he had to look at all the people, make a list, then decide between them all. He would then forward that person over to the regional sales manager and set up another interview. He said to expect a call within a couple days. I got a call from the regional guy a couple hours after I left. He wanted to set up an interview for later on this week.

Thanks for all your advice!

UPDATE 4-21:
The uber-interview is tomorRow. I usually do well with upper level management. Going to have to turn on the charm and win him over!

Make lots of eye contact wear a suite.. Yes bring another few copies of the resume.. You don't have to give one just have one.. Bring it in a folder.. bring a pen and paper take notes.. Ask 3 questions about the company do a little research on them have 3 questions ready to ask. Make sure to be ready to tell them what you can offer to this company very important, and why they need to have you there.

Hope all this helps..

Yes, bring copies of your resume. You need at least 4 copies on resume paper.

Always look at your interviewer in the eyes. Make sure you reherse your resume before you go.

No chewing gum, make sure you dry off your hands (if sweaty), and dress appropriately.

Look at the interviewer with a serious look and ask him or her "Does your company press charges?". That'll shake 'em!

Just be yourself dude... from reading your other posts you seem to be very good at what you do, so just be yourself...

I would bring a copy of your resume just in case... they probably wont need it, but doesnt hurt to bring one....

if you can research the company (such as Annual report), find problems/weaknesses, and offer suggustions/questions for improvement. They love it when you start acting like a manager.

Work on this question: "What do you have to offer to improve this organization?"

Think like a leader, be confident, dress your best to impress them.

Best of luck from a fellow dad...

How many people are you meeting with? It wouldn't hurt to bring extra copies of your resume for each of the people you're going to meet, just in case they don't have one. I had to meet with 8 people during my final round interview and 3 of them didn't have copies of my resume. thankfully I had a fex extra to give them

I learned the hard way from my first interview with a big company 12 years ago: Always bring a copy of your resume to an interview.

ok, thanks for the serious replies. I will wear a shirt and tie, not a full suit, and bring a few copies of my resume.

a full suit wouldnt hurt. You can NEVER over-dress for a interview.

Do not grab your crotch (or their crotch) during the interview.

One down, 99 to go.

1. dress nice (picked up a new outfit today)
2. make eye contact (never a problem)
3. bring resume (picking up more good paper later on tonite)
4. be familar with my resume (not hard, only 2 jobs on there. Was with first company for 5+ years, same with current company)

I just hope that I dont choke. I can get really quiet when I am stressed.

One more question: how bad is it to wear black shoes with light colored pants? I am pretty much color blind so I only buy black shoes to avoid mishaps. Any thoughts?
