The test follows the following

Delayed potentials (t - R/c)
Electric and magnetic dipole radiation
General Relativity and 4-vectors (as an intro to the final chapter, E&M with relativity)

Delayed potentials involve finding an A field from some complex situation and then doing impossible integration to find the E and B fields. I don't think I understand the concepts as well as I should. I understand basic situations, but I can't understand the more advanced concepts because I can't think of any examples...

edit: Test is at 3:30, I have from noon to study. I still need to grade a big stack of papers, write my final research paper for my lab (30% of my grade), and finalize the contents of my lab notebook before tomorrow. Oh, I also have a quantum test in less than 24 hours (9AM Wednesday).

Professors: "Kekeke zerg rush"

edit 2: Got back my test this afternoon, I got an 85! The B for this class is solidly within my grasp! I got the 4th highest score and the average was in the mid-50s.

Having relativity last, and the mention of the A field...you're using Griffiths right? If you have access to solutions to Griffith's problems, just work through them. There are some rather difficult ones in the book (especially those specially marked ones)

Depends, is it upper or lower division? Lower division E&M is actually pretty tough compared to other lower division physics courses. Obviously it's harder to imagine an electromagnetics scenario than a mechanics scenario

I'm taking the second semester of upper division E&M, which is estimated as being one of the hardest courses for the major (I guess that makes sense, it's one of the last courses you can take). The first semester was tough as hell.

Sorry, Wangsness. Last year they used Griffiths, and I did pick up a copy. Wangsness is much more dry and the problems can get fairly ridiculous. I'm not sure which one I prefer though, as Wangsness also covers more material in an order that I think makes more sense.

At the time, I thought undergrad E&M was the hardest thing I'd ever seen. Then I took grad level E&M. Jackson = the devil.

Eating okay and test is late in the day. I'll get a good 10 hours tonight, take my math quiz (piece of cake), do some light studying and take the test.

Upper div classical mechanics >> upper div e&m

I still have nightmares about these crazy mechanics problems. I actually did well in E&M.

Luckily I got out of physics before having to go through Jackson :D

I keep a copy of Jackson on my shelf. Yeah, it doesn't look like the kind of text that I would look forward to having a course over.

I think it is. My friend who is really smart (an EE major) is having a hard time in his electricity/magnetism class.

Dunno, I got an A in classical mechanics upper div and got a C in first semester E&M. Looking to maybe get a B in second semester.

I have an exam on Probability and Random Processes at 2. I'm scared.

Good luck to you!
