big core temp difference

I just set up my e8400 at stock settings, and i seem to be getting large differences in core temperatures (using coretemp to read)

At idle, there's a difference of about 14 degrees (core0 is around 25 and core1 is around 39)
At 100% cpu, the difference goes down to 6-9 degrees (38 vs 46)

Is this normal or should I try reapplying my paste? I did have to slide my heat sink around a little bit after mounting because it wasn't centered properly.

I remember seeing a couple other posts on this subject before, but I'm having trouble finding them at the moment.

Conroy9,

Try:

1- reapply paste.
Thermal Paste instructions - guideline

2- Re-seat HSF.

Keep at it until you see some significant changes in temperature for the better. In the past I had to reseat my cpu several times to get optimal cooling. It might be a bit tedious work, but it is definitely worth it.
