Ford: 46 of 51 models (90%) have average or better then average quality.

GM: 21 of 48 models (44%) have average or better than average quality

Chrysler: 1 of 26 models (4%) has average or better than average quality.

Haha. Chrysler needs to just DIE.

I would have guessed the Charger or the RAM pickup.

Everything else....is a steaming pile.

Consumer Reports says that while old GM models reportedly have poor reliability, the same cannot be said of the latest models. In other words, don't buy the old crap like the Cobalt, but new Malibu is fine.

There--happy? :D :p

From Consumer Reports: "GM has a number of strong contenders either just released or in the pipeline, but they are too new for CR to have reliability data on them."

??? Ford was top ranked and GM if they listed the cars would probable do well when you remove the older cars that they are getting rid through Pontiac/Saturn.

Only "apologist" would be for Chrysler.

Of course Chrysler fans could point out how CR reports are not scientific amoung many other flaws with CR.

I actually like Ford and have owned 2 Ford cars in the past. I don't care for GM and absolutely would never buy a Chrysler.

Many a strong contender has failed to measure up... :D

i drove the previous model taurus (i believe renamed ford five hundred) for two weeks in hawaii and it was decent. pickup was good, but the gearing was weird and had complained when going up mtns. it was huge though. it was a gas guzzler though and while plasticky it wasn't down right cheap or offensive, and was much better than the POS cobalt or even more POS caliber.

Ford is def. the best out of the detroit 3 and i have respect for them in many ways. for one they dont have as much stupid patriotic marketing like GM and they actually build a decent car

I recently had a Ford Focus as a rental car in Canada, and it was better than any Toyota I have driven recently.

no saturn model is older than ~3 years. GM gave them the freshest lineup of any brand and they still didn't sell.

the US should invade germany for what merc did to chrysler.

This definitely looks good for Ford and I think it is great to see a American car manufacturer putting out some good products. I really do think the newer GM products are very impressive car wise...and hopefully will work out reliability wise as well. Lets hope the two of them keep of this upward trend so we can have car manufacturers to be proud of.

Chrysler really just needs to go away. If I were Fiat...I'd just keep the Ram's as a separate division of Fiat/Alfa Romeo...scrap the rest.

Chrysler has some great designs, it's too bad they're not as well built mechanically. They created the minivan market. The Ram re-wrote the rules for truck styling. The PT Cruiser, love it or hate it, was a bold move. The 300 is awesome looking. It'd be a shame to see them disappear completely but I don't know if they'll ever recover.

Where did you get 3 years from???

"CR's reliability Ratings are based on our most recent annual survey reflecting 1.4 million vehicles and 10 model years."

Makes sense, he who did not need a bailout was in better standing to begin with than the other two. Chrysler has been getting worse in quality as of late and GM has actually been getting better....they just are not there yet.

Wat?

The current move towards slab-sided, big-rig inspired pickup designs all began with the F-150 redesign in 2004 that incorporated all the Kenworth styling cues. The big Rams started in 02, but the industry as a whole started moving that way after Ford did it...mainly because the big 3 will do with trucks what Ford does. The F-150 is a sales monster.

Umm the Ram started the "Big-Rig" styling back in '94.

Just goes to show that no government bailout = WIN!

Should have just let both GM and Chrysler die and save the taxpayers money.
