Bidz.com - legit?

I was taking a look at bidz.com and was going to register, but they need a credit card (like ebay) and was about to put that in when i noticed there was no padlock on the webpage. The URL is something like http://secure.bidz.com but is that actually secure? Doesnt seem like it to me at least.

Anyone have any experience with the site?
 
When I clicked on the link, I got to a secure site. I'm using IE 6.0, if that helps.

It seems like a legitimate company, or at least when I applied for a job there about a year ago. Apparently, the jewelry auctions make up most of their business, with other items making up the rest.
