Questioning someones legal status is racist?

Labeling a whole race of people as probable illegals is not a good practice is it?

Truth hurts

You don't see the Native Americans running around calling everyone other than themselves illegals do you?

Native Americans had no concept of land ownership so that's irrelevant

Besides, if you want to be a bastard about it why not research the various activities of native americans over the centuries; I'm sure you can find some motherfuckers from the 4th century whose ancestors were wronged by the ancestors of some indian t ribe that exists today blah blah blah

:Disappointed; Native Americans were isolated in American over 10,000 years ago when they migrated over during the Ice Age. I doubt you'd find people who were wronged in the 4th century by Native Americans. And to a further extent, since it happened before recorded history, you wouldn't find any Native Americans wronging any other group of people. It would never have been written.

It seems to me that he was trying to make some kind of joke with the guy, but many people will be upset over the perpetuation of a "negative" stereotype (which really shouldn't be negative because those business owners earn a lot of money through their hard work, just like any other business owner).
That's because only the best and the brightest are allowed or can afford to migrate here.

BTW do you think Racism and Prejudice isn't rampant in India? Think again.

I wouldn't go so far as to call his comment racist, but it was a bit off. He might as well have called the guy Apu and asked him for a cherry squishee.

Where did I say anything to express the idea that racism and prejudice doesn't exist there? That was random...

BTW do you think man has not landed on the moon? Think again.

Obviously .. he is a Democrat.. so.. if the NeoCons can find a way to slander him and get him on the defensive then by all means necessary.. right?
Oh please...if this were a Republican politician, you would be screaming from the mountain tops.

The comment plays upon a negative stereotype of Indian immigrants...appropriate for the Simpsons perhaps, but not for an elected official.

Then again, I am very much against political correctness and our increasingly over-sensitized, so I really don't see a need to get too upset over this.

Not the smartest thing to say as a politician, but does not necessarily mean he is a racist.

Not me.. I watched the video and read his face and heard his words.. he didn't mean anything bad by it

I wish republicans and dems would all fall off the face of the earth.. they are all scum.. just that the scum in power has more power to be scummy with.

Poor Biden was trying to say something and it came out all wrong. There is no way to spin it, it sounded bad. He clearly had problems thinking on his feet that day.

nothing if you have a (D) in front of your name. Crap if Rove said that there would be hell to pay.

C'mon Libs it's ok to have a racist tool on your side as well. You can call him names. You really don't have to defend him or worse yet take a blind eye to it.

Get some backbone!

I can't believe that Indian guy didn't say anything, I sure would have.

That all depends if he's an illegal

Is that a racist remark too?

illegal = not legal

Has nothing to do with race. The fact that you are conditioned to use those interchagably is telling.

See above comment from the (D) Biden guy for the racism thank you very much!

QFT...funny when strom thurmond says a racist comment, everyone, even republicans can agree the guy's an idiot. yet when it's Dem, heaven forbid we label the piece of scum for what he is.

heaven forbid, indeed.

As for me, I'm waiting for a lib poster to somehow tie this to Bush and, ultimately, the war in iraq.

Get goin, libs! don't fail me now!

He is legal but indians are smart enough not to get into the political fray. Indians will usually sell their dignity and respect for a few dollars.

Besides most indians do not shop at dunkin donuts and 7-11. mainly because of the "stereotype" and that only an indian would know how another indian runs his business.

I cringe when i see the backend operations of some of the indian shops and restaurants.

I'm Scandanavian and I live in the Midwest. Can I please be offended the next time someone observes that there are lots of Scandanavians in the Midwest?

It's just so hard to find good stuff to get outraged over these days.

Racism as a word is used for everything these days. A new thing has developed called racismophobia....sort of like homophobia...Noone wants to be called homophobic or racist so they are acting in an overpolitically correct manner which i find disgusting.

I dont think an indian or a black should be offended if they are called "darkies" by whites in the same way that whites do not get offended when they are called "whities" by blacks. Why is it ok to say that whites cannot play basketball and its not allright to say that blacks are not good in astrophysics? (not many of them in that field of science). Both statements are false and are based purely on social status and not racial status.

I am a white greek and i lived in London for 6 years while studying at uni. I managed to make only one black friend (most other blacks were so full of complexes that i didn't even bother) who was very offended when i called him "my ******". It was purely a sign of affection from my part and we had a long discussion over it and in the end he just said that please do not say it again because it makes me feel bad. I told him that he was dead wrong and i also told him that i was deeply offended by his racism. Greeks have never wronged blacks in any way and at any point in history and yet he couldn't get past the color of my skin. To his eyes i was a whity no matter what. I find blacks to be a lot more racist than whites. Hell, they are even racist to each other. My black friend is Kenyan and he told me that there is racism in Kenya even between countrymen. One tribe is racist against the other tribe and so on.

As far as indians are concerned i think that a lot of them in the UK are just there to get as much money as they can and then ah heck off. There is nothing wrong with keeping touch with your roots but there is a limit. When you immigrate to another country you should be prepared to help that country as if it was your own. You have no right to just ask for everything and never give anything back. In particular Indians do not even make an effort to learn english (exept those who were born there and who speak excellent english). There are Indians who have lived all their life in england and do not speak a word of english. In that sense the senator was right in his remark about the seven elevens. I have found myself in a situation where i called the railway offices to get information on a train schedule and the person talking to me was Indian. After 15 minutes of helpless efforts to understand what he was on about i thanked him and then proceded to dial again crossing my fingers and hoping that the second time around i would get someone who could speak english. English in England? i should be so lucky!!!!

I think that from the part of Indians that do not learn english it is purelly racism against whites. They don't like them so they don't make an effort to speak their language even if they live there. And do not tell me that it is down to intelligence because Indians are one of the most intelligent races on the planet.

see what i mean? the word i used in the phrase "my ----" was sensored!!!!!!!!

We can hear it on televission, video clips and films but you have to have a certificate of blackness to use it legitimatelly....

The word just means "black" in latin....I bet if i say the black sea in Latin i will get sensored...lets try : "Mare Negra"..

I dont care if some hillbilly texans used it in a bad context back in the day...it is not a swearword! WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF WORDS....the english language becomes poorer and poorer by extremist politicalcorrectors!

We now have no word to descibe a female dog or an illegitimate child...whats next? You know that Greek is a word used by Turks to put down the Hellins (greeks)? Should i go mad and sue everyone on this planet that calls me Greek? no!
