They did. The Republicans look bad, very, very bad. But Republicans don't care how they look. They just want power out of proportion to their ability to draw voters.
They have no shame.

Without the filibuster, select Republican senators might be more mercenary and actually try to work with the majority to put their own stamp on something. As it stands, the 60 vote threshold ensures that none will cross the aisle, since at least 10 would have to go along for the ride.

I disagree, they have the option now and still don’t utilize it. In fact recent history shows is that when a party has complete party rule, the minority party may have people work with the majority but in the end they vote against the legislation (see aca).

There are no guarantees with or without the filibuster but without it we can at least enact legislation and bad legislation makes it easier for the electorate to vote out those who support it and re-elect those who passed good legislation. Right now nothing is done and no one is held accountable and our country literally falls apart.

How about we just abolish it entirely and let the people who win elections enact their agenda like basically every other democracy on earth.

I don’t think ‘let’s get nothing done because then the other side also can’t get anything done’ is a good model for governance.

It is a great recipe for stagnation, of rot and disease of our national body, and eventually death from said disease.
If one wants to commit suicide, the Filibuster is their ticket.

Every sane person needs to champion the will of the voters. Lest we skip voting and go straight to madness.

Completely false narrative.

It's hilarious how many self-styled progressives here want to replace Manchin with a WV Republican.

Your twitter link does not work and obviously, using a twitter link to make a point is idiotic in the first place.

Secondly, what I wrote is absolute truth. Not that it will matter, free elections is a thing of the past when states can draw up their own maps and choose their own electors.

Manchin is a part of that, you know that, most don't and they just see democrats as being weak and useless so why even bother to vote?

Remember 2016?

I'm sorry, did I hit a nerve? Do you have some secret fetish for her? Getting all upset over what's most likely the truth. It's not like she didn't get $750k donated to her by big pharma or anything.. however, you are welcome to throw out your conclusion on how she went from a net worth of 32k to 1 Million in 2 years. Guess what her Senator salary + that $750k equals? You can use a calculator, it's allowed. (Annual salary X 2 + 750K)

Are you a fucking moron? You are trying to argue with agreement.

Plenty of good journalism is tweeted about, and many people consume articles that way. I've updated the link in my previous reply.

What you wrote a week ago are the rantings of a madman. Joe Biden with 49 Senators isn't supposed to be able to pass all of his legislative agenda, certainly not when the filibuster is still intact. Stick to politics on your side of the pond, you clearly don't understand how the American system works.

What does gerrymandering have to do with Joe Manchin?

Your response:
Oh shut the FUCK UP!

If anyone is a fucking moron, it would be you, thinking that someone reading that, is supposed to assume it's in agreement! We aren't buddies, we don't hang out and drink beers together, and I sure as hell don't know you well enough, or at all, to assume you where being sarcastic. Specially when reading a fucking 5 word response telling me to Shut the fuck up! Where I come from, that is considered rude and disrespectful, joking or not.

You're just pissy about because you thought that the EU is a military power and I pointed out how it's not and it made you feel like you don't know jack shit about anything. Which is true.

What does gerrymandering have to do with Joe Manchin?

Is this a serious question? Do you actually need a German to tell you how Joe Manchin hindered the vote on the bill for election fairness which would have brought an end to gerrymandering?

I can't tell if you are asking because you don't know or if you're being sarcastic.

I believe his point is to the fact that you can't gerrymander the senate.

What? I can't read, it was only one sentence that you typed in response to my comment where you told me to shut the fuck up. What the fuck was I not reading? If you are implying that I am supposed to read all your responses to everyone else, which had absolutely nothing to do with Sinema's money, and some how interpreted it all as you agreeing with me, than it's clear as day you are a fucking moron!

It appears you seem to think you had some long conversation with me in your head, that never actually took place, during the time span it took you to type that one sentence response where you told me to shut the fuck up. So you are correct, I can't read something that never existed.

However, I am going to rectify having such issues again and just put you on ignore as suggested, with the other less than Steller people I have on there.

Seems you can’t get a registration form due to “supply chain issues”: But that’s ok, they can just register online. Oh wait, Texas doesn’t have online registration? Sucks to be you, I guess.

And the beat goes on...
Texas mail ballot rejections soar under new restrictions (cnbc.com)

Texas threw out mail votes at an abnormally high rate during the nation’s first primary of 2022, rejecting nearly 23,000 ballots outright under tougher voting rules that are part of a broad campaign by Republicans to reshape American elections, according to an analysis by The Associated Press.
