George W. Bush!

VPOTUS blamed the George W. Bush administration for any unpopularity the current administration has suffered.

“We inherited a cynical republic, and I can’t blame them,” he said.

“Eight years of collapse, eight years of being misled about wars.”

He cast the Republican political strategy since last January as irresponsible cynicism., and boasted that the recent passage of health care reform might dispel it.

“They [Republicans] still believe cynicism will prevail, that the government can’t do anything, that we’re a bunch of socialists – all these things you hear. I think the healthcare debate put a big stake in the heart of that argument.”

Well, I'd say he's partially right. This country was left in a hell-hole when Bush left so people weren't exactly in a happy mood.

The other half I blame on partisan nutballs like you who hate everything a Democrat does without concern for what it actually is, even if it in reality was originally a Republican idea.. Sort like the new health care laws, eh?

That excuse is tiring with the majority of Americans.

You are in the minority, asshole. America is on the side you despise. You've had the American flag up your ass so long you can't figure out you're a traitor.

Obama has been in office more than 1 year. He promised "change" and "hope."

Blaming former presidencies is not unusual as Bush lovers did it frequently in 2000-2004, but it wasn't typically the default reaction whenever problems arise.

Obama is incapable of defending his horrible leadership decisions. At least have the integrity to admit when you're wrong.

Don't over-promise and under-delivery. Remember his rationale for the stimulus?

"We can prevent a crisis from turning into a catastrophe!"

Fat chance, liar.

edit: Also, Biden is an idiot. We can't necessarily blame Obama for this statement.

And of course you're able to use your crystal ball and you know for sure that Obama's policies didn't prevent a catastrophe.

Biden's almost right- the Bush admin was the high water mark of the tide of rightwing agitprop and filth that's been sweeping over the country for 30 years...

lol, I love it, bush gets into office, and everything is Clinton's fault, which he has to fix. Obama gets into office, and everything is bush's fault, which he has to fix. Isn't the blame game fun?

It would be great to have a administration that, when things go bad, the first thing out of their mouths isn't "Well, everything is screwed up from the previous admin."

Don't cry, Obamanation promised the world and can't deliver, and Plugs is trying to deflect, nothing to see here. Fact is Obama promised Hope and Change, and delivered More of the Same. A huge part of his campaign was UHC and that derailed into such a steaming pile of shit that they had to bribe other democrats to support it.

The military situation is hilarious too. Bush put a lot of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, and democrats complained that it was too much. The republicans campaigned for the war and the democrats were talking about exit strategy. Democrats win the election, so they're going to exit, right? Wrong. Obama pledges to send something like 30,000 more soldiers to Afghanistan. Hey, what was that you said about pulling out? I think the republicans responded by saying he's not doing enough, even though that's actually in the same ballpark as the number of troops republicans sent. It makes no sense at all. Both sides are retarded.

If it makes you feel any better, the same bullshit happened in my country. Conservatives said we need more troops in Afghanistan. Conservatives win the election. Conservatives talk about reducing the number of troops in Afghanistan. Liberals are talking about sending more troops. What the fuck. Make up your minds!

Don't kid yourself on whose fault this is. Obama and the democrats have a very large majority. If Obama actually wanted public insurance or to expand medicare to cover more people, he could have broken some spines and made it happen. Instead he fucked around and stalled, insisting on getting republicans to support it which he knew for a fact would never happen. Obama is not stupid, he just doesn't want UHC. He lied to everyone and he'll probably get away with it.

When exactly are they going to claim ownership of the economy, and the political climate in general? At some point, they have to.

I recall people saying that the economy and country was entirely President Bush's at the beginning of his second term.

Moonbeam needs to calm down, too. Maybe not to banned status, but he used to be this Eastern philosophy reading promoter of peace and good will to his fellow man. Now all his posts are dripping with hatred and spite. I wonder what happened to him?

Sounds peachy, except that the Right is still clinging tenaciously to the inflamatory rhetoric, failed policies and headsets that put us into the current imbroglio. Instead of chagrin, they exhibit arrogance. Instead of recognizing the value of compromise, they turn absolutist, radicalize their base even further.

One thing's for sure- electing people to run the government who profess to hate it won't make it better, only worse, which is precisely what the Right has been doing from Reagan forward.

They set the fox to watching the henhouse, blame somebody else for the missing chickens...

You guys really come out in droves whenever a new talking point is unleashed by the media.

Seriously, why is the "progressive" version of the health care debate always "Democrats vs. Republicans"?

Why can it not be "Democrats vs. Republicans vs. CITIZENS"?

Yeah, name calling and saying you'd like to take a shot at someone with a shotgun is the same thing.
