So this guy is just a jackass. At least he wasn't wearing a spandex tour de france getup like most of them.
Just ask them " Do they pay you to wear that shit?"
The looks you get in response are entertaining. 🙂

I get behind cyclist on side road and drive behind him respectively (the traffic light was only 30 yards away).
We pull up to the red light and stop, he looks like he's going to turn right but instead waits for traffic to pass and takes the pedestrian crosswalk to the other side of the intersection, now the pedestrian crosswalk was ALSO on the red hand and not the walk symbol. My ultimate question is... is what he did legal or could you be cited for it? Also this light was at a major highway intersection and not just some small town podunk road. This is the intersection I'm referencing.
In this scenario, it doesn't matter if he's a cyclist. he used a crosswalk as a pedestrian. What he did may not have been legal....but hey, at least he used the crosswalk. As a motorist, if you ever hit someone in a crosswalk...it won't go well for you.
Thank you
The cyclist's behavior was unacceptable for two reasons:
1) It was illegal, plain and simple
2) It harms cyclist-motorist relations and he should know better
Soooo... how long will this take to get to 30 pages?

Sweet. Next time I'm coming up to a redlight I'm going to throw my car in neutral, open the door, and just sort of drag my feet as I go blazing through the red light.
That makes me a pedestrian, right?
Ugh you elitist ciclists are seriously insane with the way you justify this crap. It's no wonder motorists are beyond fed up with your group. There's a reason why your pro ciclist lobbying groups haven't gotten jack passed in the past few years.
Easy slugger. When I ride, I ride by the rules. The anger, it's unwarranted. The road rage, it's not necessary.
There's a reason there's crosswalks. Go head, hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk, let us know how that works out for you.
BikeJunkie has already commented. What he says make sense.
Yeah exactly. When I first got behind the guy I was like, " oh okay a bicycle, I'll be a reasonable driver and be patient". Then he did that and I was like well then, asshole I hope you fall off and scrape your knee. 😡
Well FWIW, did his use of the crosswalk affect you? While I certainly don't condone the cyclist's actions at all, it seems silly to get worked up enough to wish him harm
That said, I preach to both motorists and cyclists that peaceful coexistence on the road should be top priority, and that means 1) obeying all traffic laws by BOTH parties, and 2) tolerance when the other side breaks #1
Oh, I almost forgot rule #3: Ignore SpatiallyAware. He's an idiot without a brain and a heavy agenda.
?? Is that your way of backing out of the discussion?
Your entire argument revolves around the fact that you're "following the rules", that the law is on your side.
My point is that just because it's legal, doesn't make it ok from a societal perspective. You can hold your nose as high as you want, but everyone on the road hates you. Wonder what the witness statements will be when you get mowed down...
Funny. SA is on my ignore list but I peeked at a few of his posts. Yup... it's a totally civil thread except for his posts, which are filled with nothing but anger, contempt, and red herrings. Still only wants to acknowledge the laws that support his agenda while ignoring the others (ie, the legality of a dismounted cyclist using a crosswalk).
What an angry little boy *shakes head in pity*

Your entire argument is in essence, moot. Based on your own admission that it's legal but it's not ok from a societal perspective....laughable at best.
Everyone on the road != you. There are plenty of courteous drivers out there that share the road with cyclists, and vise-versa.
oh, so know it's legal but you don't like it? whatever, get a grip.

But bicyclists, they stand united in their leotards, to defend any of their brethren at any cost.
Just because you abide by the laws doesn't make you any less of an asshole.
There are plenty of 'legal' things that are flat out rude and inconsiderate:
Babies screaming in a nice restaurant while parents ignore them.
People standing at the front of fast food lines for 5 minutes hemming and hawing.
Going through a 10 items or less checkout lane with 30 things.
Parking sideways across 3 lanes in a parking lot.
Cutting to the front of the line.
....
People in my city can't stand cyclists. They get honked at, buzzed, cops called on them, if not worse.
His use of crosswalk was not warranted considering he was still riding the bike
