Bibles on the School Bus

They did that last year at the high school. I'm surprised they're aloud to do so. But I personally think that it should be aloud.

He crossed the line by putting any obligations on the gift.

If it were a 'no strings attached' gift, that is one thing. Putting strings on it... is something entirely different. I think it is a good time for a friendly chat with the bus driver. Not a confrontational one, but just a respectful boundries drawing one.

um, he should just drive the bus and be nice to the kids. his job does not entail handing out bibles. therefore, he's weird.

Ha ha, that reminds me of the previous owners of my house! 🙂

Every Halloween they would hand out bible passages to the kids instead of candy. Needless to say for the first two years I was in my house I had a lot of left over candy. The kids wouldn't come to my door for some silly reason!! 🙂

You know - I still don't want to get to confrontational on this - I will if I have to but

a. in this town, the bible belt of the rockies, there's a good chance the school district management will sympathize with the driver
b. If he isn't removed, my daughter will still have to ride with him - possibly for a few more years. I don't want to create issues for her.

I think I'm going to call the school and describe the situation to them without names, etc. Let them put out a general announcement regarding the appropriateness of this kind of activity and see if he takes the hint.

If a school bus driver gave my kid a comic book or doll I would be just as angry. It really is not a school bus drivers place to give gifts to children at that age without parental consent (even if only implied by an existing relationship between parent and driver)
