Bianchi Pista vs. Specialized Langster

Anyone here ride fixed gears? I am trying to get into them but I want a starter bike and I have heard these are good starter bikes for Fixed Gears.

The Bianchi is CroMo, while the Specialized is AL.

I might get a Langster, but I am unsure. Plus I don't normally like to spend that much money anyways. Any ideas?

Yeah the Pista is purty, plus it is CroMo which is a much better ride on a fixed gear.
The Specialized though is really nice with a decent component grouping for a started bike, but the Al makes me cringe.

I found a really nice Langster, but I don't know if I should yet.

The Langster was $400 brand new two years ago... all of a sudden its over $600 for the same bike.

If you want a starter fixie I think the Langster is better for you since it's already equipped with brakes and levers and just flip the hub if you want.

Or you can go find a used one. At least 9 out of 10 fixed gear bikes I see on the road look like a POS. I think that's part of the allure of these things plus they're so much simpler. I rarely see a brand spanking new one with a name brand slapped across the downtube.

The grouping isn't as complicated as a geared bike, but the gears manufacturer and more importantly the handlebar, wheel, and frame manufacturer are much more important. But I do get your point.

To be honest, out of your choices, I would sooo get the Pista.

I have tried out a few Fixed gears. I ride quite a bit already and have good muscle mass and efficient pedal stroke. I have pretty good balance, and the last Fixed gear I tried out I could easily do a track stand.

If you want a fixed gear road bike, get the langster. If you want a track bike, get the Pista.
