I can get these chips from ONVIA.CANADA (and a $50 rebate!) :)

Intel Celeron 600MHz 128K L2 Cache PGA370 (Retail Box)
BX80526F600128 $134.44
Intel Celeron 633MHZ 128K L2 Cache PGA370 (Retail Box)
BX80526F633128 $145.34
Intel Celeron 667MHZ 128K L2 Cache PGA370 (Retail Box)
BX80526F667128 $152.62
Intel Celeron 700MHZ 128K L2 Cache PGA370 (Retail Box)
BX80526F700128 $161.70

Now which is my best bet for a safe overclock from FSB 66 to 100?
I don't want to go crazy, just rock solid performance.
It'll be a far cry from my old 450A. LOL!
I'm going to need a slotket too... I hear the MSI6905 is the one to go for. Hopefully they have it there too. :)

EDIT: They don't... I have these two choices...
Abit ABIT SLOT 1 Conversion Card, FC-370 Supports 133M...
RS370 $13.64
Asus Computer Intl Asus Socket370 To Slot1, Convertion Card Dual Copperm...
S370-DL $18.18

Just tell me which chip/slotket has the best chance of success on a BH6. I've been out of the CPU loop for a while. :)

Lower the multiplier the better chance usually... at a 9.0 multiplier if you get the 600 Mhz part, you'll already be pumpin' that CPU 900 MHz which I believe some early Celery IIs have trouble getting to.

Lower the multiplier ... and how might you accomplish this? I'm sure a lot of people would like to know.

I purchased a C2-600 from onvia for $127 shipped and after $25 coupon. I don't know where you'll be getting that $50 rebate from but...

My C2-600 does 900@1.9v, using Golden Orb & Asus Slot370-133 or whatever. It's the one with voltage adjustment since my crappy mobo doesn't have it. I didn't buy the Asus slotket from Onvia because they have NO information on it.

I think right now the C2-600 has a pretty good overclocking rate. Others here have been complaining that their C2-633 with cC0 core won't do 9.5x100. Mine did 9x83@1.5v with retail HSF. Of course, YMMV.
Each 33Mhz stepping is less than $10. Wanna be a guinea pig? :D;)

also in the same boat. I am either thinking a celeron 700 with no overclock or a 600 oc to 900 but neither buy.com or onvia have these in stock

Oh yeah, checking the overclockers' database, the average overclocked speeds for the celeries are: 909, 960, 974, 955 Mhz for the 600, 633, 667, 700 Mhz celeries, respectively. And uhh... 1314Mhz is the highest for a Celery 600... if you believe the user who submitted it...

Hey Bozack: Onvia's inventory for CPUs always says "confirm by email" but I got my celery in 3 days. Hell, they may even send you 2! It's happened before!

My opinion is to go for the 633. Even if you can only get to the 75MHz bus speed, you will have a decent system.

I have a 633 from Onvia that goes to 950 at 1.7V on an old Abit BX6.

Either slocket should work. (I'm using a no-name $8 from e-spray!)

To successfully get to 950, make sure you have a nice big heatsink (like the golden orb) and that it is mounted properly. It needs to sit perfectly flat on the small processor. Try shining a flashlight between the cpu and heatsink. If you cannot see any light from the opposite side between the two, you are in good shape. Also, make sure the heatsink doesn't touch the part of the socket that says "370" on it.

The intel heatsink/fan seems decent to me, but the clip is very difficult to work with.

So if I'm gonna' overclock, my best bet is either 600 or 633 from those choices. These are retail box, so how good is the RETAIL HS/F combo on the thing?
I did some analasis... Depending on how much I can get for my BH6 + 450A locally (since Ananders won't offer much, I'll bet!) I might almost be better off buying a Duron 600 OEM (the only one they have) and a Socket A mobo and some sort of Duron cooler. It'll only cost a tiny bit more- depending on resale of oldstuff.

It's a great debate.... :p Now that I finally have my video card chosen, I can freak about something else. :p

Rebate has expired, but since I have an order that'll probably be "pending" for months, I can delay claiming that coupon. :)
I have $50 off $200 just waiting for me- I just have to figure out what to buy. They have all the Celerons in stock- it's a real decision...
Get just Celeron2 + slotket -or- Replace all with cheap Duron + expensive mobo and hope someone buys my old combo for a reasonable price.

the duron would be alot faster and socket a will not die soon. You can upgrade to whatever next generation socket a chip you wish to get since they will be compatible.
If you want a cheap and good cooler for a duron get a taisol taisol website cheap and effective.

I had a celeron 266@400 (could do 448) for the last couple of years on a rev 1 abit BH board. I went to frys a couple of days ago and picked up a boxed celeron 600 for 99 bucks. Took it home and it went to 600, it worked. I put it at 900 crossed my fingers and it was good, ran Q3 for awhile. Put it at 1008 it worked, but crashed after 10 sec. I up the voltage to 1.75 it crashed after a min. Put it at 1.85. Works Iike a charm, nothing has crashed yet while playing games for at least 4 5 hours the last few nights. The only thing i should pickup now is some more ram, 64 doesn't cut it anymore. It said it was boxed 10/6/2k for your info. And i had a MSI slot card i got about 4 months ago when someone had them for 10 bucks.

uhm... about that cheap duron... you can go out and buy a new mobo... but i dont think you will have many upgrade options..... in 3 months all thost things will be 266mhz fsb..

and uhm about that cheap slocket for your celeron.. i also have a bh6-rev1.. i bought a celery633 to replace my 300a@450 it wouldnt run at 950 with my cheap slocket adaptor.... then i bought one of those abit slocket3 things..... it works perfectly at 950@1.85 i would certainly pay the $5 more for a better slocket.

The Abit slocket is aleady very reasonably priced. That and a Celly 600 seems to be my best bet... MAAaaaaybe a 633.
