BH6 FSB help

Hello, I have an Abit BH6 motherboard. According the the user manual, the motherboard only offically supports 100mfz FSB. I was going to upgrade the CPU to a P3-850, but I would rather get an 866 due to the better I/O. I can raise the FSB speed to 133 with the softmenu, but will it run stable? I know that the BX chipset was not designed for that speed, but I have seen where others have done it. What do you all think?

In theory it'll work, but it depends on what revision of the BH6 you have. On the board below the last ISA slot is a rev 1.x number that will provide the needed information. The reason this is so important is because anything below rev 1.1 lacks the 1/4 PCI divider needed to run any PCI device at a FSB of 133. Your AGP slot will also be overclocked and is a concern if you are using a generic video card.

i am using the bh6 rev 1.1, with the latest bios, and as far as i know, the only AGP divider i have is 1/1 or 2/3, and i have not seen a 1/4 divider for PCI as well.

Make sure you have PC133 memory and Geforce/Geforce 2 Card. Nothing to think about after that. Might want to consider P3 700E Retail(SL45Y) @ 933 if your into overclocking
