I have a Abit BH6 mb with a O/C celeron300 to 450. I want to get a bigger
processor. the Abit web says it can take up to a 700 PIII. the manual says
It'll take up to a 500 PIII.
Any body know what the BH6 will take?
Thanks
John

I have a BH6 rev. 1.01 and replaced my 300a/450 setup with a startech slotket (socket 370 to slot 1 adapter) and a 1Ghz celeron chip. 256 MB of Crucial CAS 2 RAM and a VISIONTEK Xtasy 5632 GEFORCE2 GTS-V 4X/2X 32MB AGP - OEM video card. Under $200 bucks for the whole upgrade.

I bought the retail celeron and startech slotket for under $100 at buy.com and bought the VC at Newegg.

You will need to flash your BIOS to the most recent for your revision of the BH6. Mine is rev. 1.01 and the most recent BIOS is SS. I could walk you through it if you need. This BIOS flash, although the documentation does not state it, allows your computer's clock multiplier to go up to 12 although you will only need 10 as this is this particular CPU's default. It also allows your default voltage to go down to 1.70.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your upgrade with us JJJ. I just picked up a used BH6 (rev. 1.01) and P3 550. It's nice to know it is possible to upgrade to something a little faster. BTW... what voltage does that 1 Ghz Celeron use?

1.70v.

1.7v 😉

you can go as high as a celeron 1.1ghz if you want 🙂

I put my hand-me-down P3-700 on my BH6 and it runs fine. You can always set the FSB thru "User Define" in the BIOS. Only problem is that I can't get it to OC. I was running it at 132 FSB:Q (924 MHz ) for months without a hitch on my BE6-II, but on the BH6, all I can get is Turbo. When I got to the first mark over nominal (112Hz), it has a cow and can't see the HDs. I wonder if it's the Quantum drive I have in that box. I've got Maxtors in the Def PC.
