I flashed muy bios from the LH version I had to the latest SS...omitting to do those in between. My Modem stoped working until I flashed back to LH but now my SB emulation driver does not load.
1: Should I have flashed all the subsequent Bios Updateds before the latest?
2: Why would flashing back alter my sound card set-up?

Be gentle with me folks...this was my first Bios flash....not for the faint hearted I understand.

;)

You don?t have to flash the in between the bios, update is cumulative, so the latest take care of every thing.

When you flash Bios some, or all of the bios setting reset themselves. After flashing when you reboot press del. go over the various bios setting, and change then to the way you used them before flashing.

Example: If you have a modem that uses COM 2, com2 in the bios have to be disabled. After flashing the bios can switch the setting to enable com2, thus enable the serial connection in the back, but depriving the Modem of the serial port.

Hey...I was just about to flash my BH6 bios when I saw your post. On the Abit BIOS page it looks like there's two kinds of BIOS updates...maybe you got the wrong one? This is just a guess though...sorry if it's grossly inaccurate.

Is there any way other than looking on the motherboard itself to find out which Revision you have? Before I D/L the BIOS update I need to figure out if I have revision 1.0 or 1.1. Looking on the board itself is out of the question because the place where it is written is right at the bottom of my case so I would have to take the board out to look at it, which would be a major pain in the arse. Any ideas?

Nope, everything worked fine for me. At first though, I booted up without BIOS recognizing my hard drives, and it didn't go into windows. I was scared for a sec, then I figured it out =).

tHa-ShIzNiT, How did you find out what version you have. Did you figure it from the bios id you upgraded from, or some other way. I would like to know if there is some wother way cause I got one whose original id was lost.

I looked at the last 2 letters bottom of splash screen that says "press delete to enter bios" it should have the last version bios there so that will give you an indication of what version you have.

Ultravox, It gives you the current version which is an upgrade from the original. My problem is that I don't know if the upgrade was for the right board because I don't know if an bios for the bh6 version 1.1 would work on the original BH6. If the bios had never been flashed I could be sure which board it is, but if it was flashed wrong and still works, then I can't tell what the board is. So I guess the question is if you put the bios for the later bh6 on the earlier one, will it work. I got NL now.

Abit has always cautioned about using the appropriate bios for each BH6 version. I suspect you would have had problems before this flash if you had used an incorrect version. Possibly it would even have refused to flash.
Did you reset your bios to default values prior to flashing? A good idea. Down-clocked your processor to a perfectly stable level, like the one it was manufactured to run at?
Had you (or someone else) adjusted your PNP or APM/ACPI settings in order to get your hardware config to work? If so do you need to reset these values, as already suggested?
