BFG6800GTOC - NOT OVER CLOCKED?

I received my BFG6800GToc last week. Great card, no problems installing or using. Ran 3d marks 05 yesterday and it said my core clock was at 350Mhz. I thought it might be the software but my friend has the same card and his shows at 370Mhz. I hate to send it back to best buy, took two weeks to get the first time. Is there a bios fix or am I doomed to rma the darned card, it runs so nice. I could over clock it my self but that would void the warranty, right? I emailed BFG but have not received any reply as of yet. Has any one else experienced this problem? Is there a fix outside of sending it back?

Have you tried using software other than 3D05 to check the clocks? I've had some issues with 3D03 and 3D05 reading the clocks incorrectly on a couple of my cards under certain circumstances. NVTweak (coolbits) comes to mind as an alternative for checking the clocks. Also, be sure you're reading the 3D clock speed. I don't know whether it's different from 2D on BFG's bios, but that is possible.

I bought a BFG 6800GT OC way back when they first came out ... the green reference pcb model. Mine came clocked the same as yours, 350 core (not 370 as advertised). I did mange to overclock it to 370 but just barely and I just decided to have BFG either fix the BIOS or send me another one.

I contacted them via phone (there is a toll free # in the paperwork) and they had me send the card back in. They ended up just sending me another card (I assume it was new .. it had different markings and serial #). The new one had the proper core clock speed and on top of that it also managed to overclock higher (with coolbits) than the first one I got ... by a wide margin.

I'd give them a call and explain the situation, it worked for me and the turn around time was only about 1 week. Good luck

Thanks guys, I geuss i'll send it back. I waited so long to finish my pc build( bfg card was the missing ingrediant) I suppose I was looking for an easy out. I'm a bit of a noob, last pc I built was a pent 450Mhz with a voodoo 3 agp card. Been a while since I had a good gaming machine. Been jonesing for a couple of years , so i guess a few weeks wont kill me. YES IT WILL!
new machine: MSI NEO 2 PLATINUM, BFG 6800GTOC, AMD3500. 1 GIG VALUE RAM, LITE ON DVD BURNER, SEAGATE 120 GIG HD.
