Is there any reason to pay the extra dollars for a little more clock speed (knowing clock speed is overrated)

I'd go eVGA so you can "step-up" to an Ultra in the next 90 days.

XFX is in stock right now also, and BFG isn't.

Of course, that might speak to the issue of which is a better idea...

Aren't XFX and PNY considered the bottom feeders of the nVidia card manufacturers by most people?

all bfg video cards have a lifetime warranty. evga has the step up program, where you can purchase the 7800gtx now and then exchange it for a 7800 ultra when it comes out, (As long as its within 90 days of your purchase and you get the price you paid for the gtx to go toward your new card.)

Since it hasn't even been rumored yet, I would say either when the 32 Pipe R520 comes out, or around the holiday season.

eVGA has also confirmed that one of the DVI ports on their 7800GTX card is dual link, just in case you ever want to use the card with a 30" Apple Cinema Display. I haven't heard confirmation of dual link with the BFG or XFX cards.

I'll take the Leadtek or eVGA over the BFG, & certainly over XFX.

Don't want to step on any very firmly planted toes, but I got the XFX 7800GTX and my friend got the EVGA. All other factors aside (and there are other factors), my card ran [much] cooler at idle and got better benchmarks by about 50 points on 3dMark05 at stock speeds. Just letting you guys know our experience.
