BFG OC vs Chaintech

What's the difference between a BFG overclock and a Chaintech I OC with coolbits to 525? Is it just pre-overclocked and that's it?

Chaintech are a top manu and BFG are not, also Chaintech like other good manus dont lie about a 10% o/c on ultra as 400/1000 was nvidias mins spec at release so all are 400/1100 bar 1 i know that was 400/1000, so they could all claim 10% o/c, most good makes are 425/1100.

I ran my Chaintech Ultra 460/1220 with no mods to bios or cooling, now imhiger with cooling helped by artic silver 5 instead the cloth material it used and Gt bios + 1.6v.

Temps are still well low
 
What chipset? 6600GT?
BFG likes to ship its card's GPUs oveclocked.
6600GT 525 vs 500
6800GT 370 vs 350
6800Ultra 425 vs 400
The same thing can be achieved with other brands by using coolbits. This shouldn't be the sole selling point when buying a new VGA card.
Chaintech is considered by most to be a mid-range brand.

6800 Ultra spec is 400/1100.
BFG makes top notch cards.
 
400/1000 is min spec so why do all makes with 400/1100 and 425/1100 not claim 10% o/c.

BFG IMO are crap and i read nothing but problems with them, but hey they got a good rma support.

Fact is only 1 ultra i ever saw was 400/1000 so all rest are so called OVERCLOCKED.

This was all over web at launch and also backed up by my phonecall to the UK PR Manager about broken PvP.

Fact is Ultra must have at least 400/1000

Ultra Extreme must have at least 450/1200 as eVga did.


BFG were unheard of ni UK till N40, but i had known of crappy PNY who took part of markrt after another one i know >> Visiontek (USA fav manu) went bust.

If i had choice over the 2 i would and i do always since G F 2 GTS Ultrqa buy Chaintech, and they o/c great, i think you can find this in reviews aswell.

BFG has a bunch of ex-Visiontek employees, why would they be any worse? I'd go BFG because they give you a full lifetime warranty on the card that they overclock. You overclock it and the warranty is gone of course, but their warranty and service are unmatched. I'm on my second BFG card (5900, 6800GT) and I'll be on my third sometime this upcoming winter.
 
I not gonna keep card that long and how would a manu know on RMA that you had slide the two sliders in coolbits up ?

There is no way they can prove unless you have modded card with soldered wires and if you can get cooling back to stock with same thermal pads etc etc, if they used white go that would be even easier to hide with similar goo, their not gonna strip it down and look at under a mircoscope.
 
XBoxLPU <<< if u can read you will be able to see 425/1100 isnt overclocked in the eyes of other makers, just because 400/1000 is mins spec not 400/1100as some seem to think, as that would put all cards bar the only one thats 400/1000 at 10% o/c on memory.

I backed this up by urls, i know my typing skills are sh1t, but the sites do a little better.

The facts are there and BFG are slated in lots of posts here esp for fans comming.

I just felt it ness to point out BFG aint really 10 o/c for the Ultra as most good makes are 425/1100

He can get what card he likes but BFG dont compare to Chaintech and never will.

IMO only i stress IMO BFG are not good.
 
I have a bfg 6800 gt and I love it. Clocks beyond ultra speeds. If you look at humer's other posts he hates on bfg all over the place. Chaintech is at best a mediocre manufacturer. One of the reasons that you read about so many people having problems with bfg is because so many people buy bfg. Noone buys chaintech crap. And if something does happen to your chaintech card, good luck getting support for it. Humey must have something personal against BFG.
 
A look at newegg shows 6800 Ultras at 400/1100. The only cards at 425/1100 ? Two Asus cards and of course BFG. BFG only claims a 10% overclock on the core, nothing else. They have a right to do so IMO.

I have had a BFG 6800 Ultra since December of last year with zero problems what so ever. In fact I am quite pleased that I have a lifetime warranty. 🙂

Running above so called Ultra speeds is not to hard,i had a chaintech replaced after 2 years and i even keep the original card and sold new one and fixed bug with a bios on original (yes nvidia bios not chaintechs)

I have nothing against BFG, but will never own one.

Why dont other makers claim 10% o/c on the core and memory as ive proven the spec for Ultra is min of 400/1000, and thats from Nvidia and the urls above are hardproof.

Do you all plan to keep your card so long anyhow, and lifetime warrently most has clauses so i would tread carefully.

Out all forums ive seen this had most flames and trolls and yes i am part that to.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm using a Chaintech 6600gt for people who were interested. I've had it stable at 555 for a while now and have pushed it close to 600.

NVIDIA (you know, the company that makes Geforce graphics cards?) explicitly created the 6800U spec as a 16p/6vp 400/1100mhz card. Anything over is OVERclocked. Anything under is UNDERclocked. Anything with a different ammount of pipes/vertex shaders is classified as a different card. Get it?

Let's take a look at an online store.

400/1100: 12/15 cards.

Only two Asus cards and the BFG card are running a different spec.

I read Reviews and i take into account them all not just 1 sites findings,Avalon you are just as much a stirrer as you were on the Purevideo thread, at leasy one user had camr with some input about the 2 cards performance, for some noob to say A top Jap card /mobo maker is crap.

peleejosh, since im British i can talk and probably spell english words better than most, but since its only a forums and i cant type very fast/accurate at same time it doesnt really make much difference, if you are that ignorent you need to slag others for typos instead of using half your brain to correctly read what i should have typed, you would get on better.

I read 100's post and 99% that have typos i can understand and im not ignorent enough to slag them about it.

Out of 15 cards...only THREE are overclocked. TWO ASUS and 1 BFG

There is a list of links for all the different manufactures. As you can see (unless youre completely blind or a European POS) you can see that ALL of the cores are listed as 400 - FOUR HUNDRED for the blind..and 1100 for the memory.

So I've posted the LINKS you keep talking about. I'd like for YOU to send me links to 7 different cards from 7 different manufactures using the 425 Core.

Nvidia reference is 400/1100.

Now STFU and quit making up lies to back up your fanboi BS and lets keep it on subject.
 
You put your opinion forward, but you used false\misunderstood\nonexistant knowledge to form that opinion making it wrong. It'd probably shock quite a few of you guys that BFG has (and probably will in the future as well) contracted with Chaintech to get cards built. Chaintech isn't crap, but the difference is warranty and support between the two brands.

The Ultra min spec at launch was 400/1000 go and look it up and chaintech is 425 core, so you are the one that needs your eyes tested not me so STFU, typical big mouth yank.

ZipZoomFly According to their PDF (Under - Manufacturer Product Specifications ) the Chaintech is 400core.

Again, you have posted NO links to back up your claims and you keep talking out of your ass.

I DID go look at it up and you're still STUPID and making FALSE claims without any evidence to back it up.

FYI: "ignorent" is spelled Ignorant. You've misspelled it atlas 4 times now. How ironic is it that you call others "ignorent", yet you cannot simply spell the actual word.
