BFG GTX 280 $314.99 ar plus FarCry2

I can't believe these things have dropped so much.

I haven't been in the video card loop for a few months, would anyone recommend this over a 4870x2? I'm running a 1920*1200 lcd.

Thanks!

What type of gaming do you do?

Generally speaking (from here), 4870X2 can outperform the GTX 280 in games that scale well, but also introduces a lot of potential problems with CF (crossfire) scaling and drivers.

Thanks for the reply Crimson, I typically do fps gaming. Crysis, unreal, planning on picking up fallout 3.

I might just wait on this one and make a buy early next year, I've been reading rumors about a gtx 280 'x2'. My system is crossfire and not sli so I'd need an Nvidia dual card if I ever wanted multi gpu.

Looks like all the 280's and 260's are on sale, must be clearing stock for next gen stuff.

Most likely die shrinks rather then "next gen".

or in this economy people will begin to increase there wavelength between upgrades. AMD and INTEL are expecting double digit decreases in revenue this quarter. AMD is missing its mark by as much as 25%.

I also think that's why ram prices haven't rebounded even after clearing excess ddr2 channel inventory.
