I have one and it is AGP and 128 MB. Only the 6800GT and 6800Ultra have 256MB. I unlocked mine to 16 pipes and 6 vertex shaders which was pretty sweet. Defininetly the best card for the money when you do that. Half-life 2 plays awesome with everything juiced at 1024x768 (A64 3200+ and 1 gb RAM) and with minimal slow down at 1280x1024. I can also play Battle for Middle earth with all settings maxed at 1280x1024 even with hundreds of characters on screen at once.

I just ordered one...It hit the magic under $200 price point. I figure my 9800 pro is getting a little long in the tooth.

This will be my first Geforce card after one Diamond, a Voodoo3 and about 5 Radeons.

This would definately be better especially if you can unlock it.

6600GT is around $50 less. 6800 will give rougly 20%-30% performance boost. Is it worth it to you?

Does this one come with a free copy of FarCry? I thought that $249 was a good price, so I might just do this. As far as the 6600 GT's go, the price is about $180-185 shipped now unless you want to risk getting an XFX card and the rebate, in which case it would be $158-164. For an extra $47 over the $158 price for a far better brand and the possibility of unlocking the other four pipes and vertex shader it might be worth it.

Don't forget that the BFG comes factory overclocked (not much 325 to 350) and a lifetime warranty. Mine came with a copy of far cry. You can find some really detailed and helful instructions on how to unlock it if you just google for it. The place I found someone had taken screen pictures of every step. Its pretty simple using RivaTuner.

NOT all cards will unlock. Be advised.
Edit: All WILL unlock, but artifacts may come in to play...therefore you obviously will reverse the unlock.
Most can still leave the extra shader just fine tho.

Questions about unlocking the BFG 6800oc

Regarding unlocking the other four pipes and the pixel shader, is there any danger in trying to do it? If you try it and get artifacts, is it easy to undo it? What happens if you don't like it and then shut down your computer and reboot? Would that return it to normal so that you could use the computer again (with the card still installed) and undo whatever you did with Rivatuner? Is there a danger that you wouldn't be able to undo the softmod?

Since it is a "softmod", how would BFG know if you softmodded it, or does the softmod affect the card's BIOS? If it affects the card's BIOS, is there a danger that you could try to softmod it and that the card would no longer work but that you would then be completely unable to undo the softmod (since you couldn't see any images on your monitor since the card would be messed up)?

One more question. The picture at Outpost.com shows a card with just one fan on the heatsink--the older version. Are they clearing out older versions or did they just not bother to update their photo? I think it's probably the latter since these cards were out of stock for a while and they probably just received a new stock...but it might be a stock of older cards that BFG wanted to clear out?

LEARN TO USE THE SEARCH BUTTON

Yes it is easily reversed....
And on your second question....you know what they say "what you see is what you get"

It IS a 12 pipe card.
That should be the same card, but the cooler looks different in the photo on outpost.
This is a killer deal, and definitely worth the extra $20 over a 6600gt, even 50 IMO

For your records, I bought one a couple of months ago and it came with Far Cry, and I could unlock a vertex, but not the 4 pixel pipelines.

Same as above. I started getting artifacts, so I undid the changes. No real NEED to unlock anything. This card was rippin' fast right out of the box! :)
