BFG FX5900XT OC 128MB 8x AGP Video Card - $125 sold out

Found this on http://www.woot.com today.

BFG FX5900XT OC 128MB 8x AGP Video Card 124.99 shipped

I love my 5900xt ( spent over $180 a few months back ), if I didn't have one I would be all over this.

It's all over, sold out 🙁

For the money, nothing will beat this card. Period. However, I would prefer to spend ~$50 more and get a 6600gt or similar newer generation card. I was very disappointed in the performance of my BFG 5900 (regular verses XT). It was noticeably slower than my 9800 Pro rig especially at newer games like Doom 3.

I sold my "used" (i.e., it was ~9 months old, never overclocked and actually somewhat seldom used since I have 2 other PCs with 9800 Pro's) fx5900 to a friend for $100.

incredible card for the price, you wont see too insane a difference between this and a 6600gt. for those who cant shell out 50 bucks more this is awesome

You cannot compare this with 9800PRo which is faster i just checked few Benchmarks. I answered my own question, but for you who wanna buy 9800 i am selling one which is in my signature for $140 shipped. It is a 9800SE with softmod to 9800Pro and overclocked using VGA Silencer V.3

i cant believe i almost fell for this because of the XT name. XT = ultra in nvidia but XT in nvidia = the SE of ATI.

bastids!

You, sir, are a dumbass. The 5900 XT is almost exactly the same as a vanilla 5900..

You can flash it to a 5950 Ultra.

I thought the fx5950 came with 256mb of RAM?

They do, flashing a 5900xt to a 5950U will give it 5950U speeds but at 128mb of memory.

You guys got a link to the flash? I have a 5900xt laying around that i'd like to try to flash!
BTW I have a BFG model.. I heard those couldn't be flashed??

Here's a link to a guide on flashing NVidia cards: http://www.devhardware.com/forums/t25300/s.html&highlight=5900xt+5950u+flash

Unfortunately, it specifically states that "A 5900XT will not work because it has 2.8ns memory while the 5950u has 2ns memory, trying to flash an XT to an 5950U will result in permement damage."

Anyone able to confirm or disprove this?

Just wondering, cause I got in on this Woot and would like to try to maximize my return on investment if it's possible. 😉

The BFG on woot is overclocked a few mhz above the stock 5900xt out of the box and I get acceptable fps on my stock 5900xt playing hl2. So I wouldn't worry about bios flashing just yet, in a few months you won't feel so bad if things go wrong because you will have made a cool $60 paper weight rather then a $125 one.
