All best buys inthe country are out of the 8800gt.

I checked dells website and they dont have the bfg 8800gt oc 512mb. I dont know if any other 8800 is worth it...

I need it for FSX (Microsoft flight simulator X)which is a very demanding game.

Anyone here own the 8800gt and tried it with fsx?

What is that supposed to imply? EVGA & XFX carry a lifetime warranty and offer o/c'ed versions of the 8800GT.

So that is exactly my question. Is there any one that is better then the other, more reputable etc...

I am not a big computer buff 🙂

I have the stock EVGA 8800GT, I immediately overclocked it to 725/1000 easily. Others are reporting around 750/2000 on the stock cooler. You just have to mess around with some fan settings, that's all.

And besides, EVGA's and XFX's warranties comes with overclocking allowed anyways, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Hmm, a lot of you have some pretty screwy Best Buys in your areas. The one here in Anchorage has always treated me like a king.

I bought the new 8800GT from them back on Nov 9th I think... for $279.99. The next day I saw this thread and a link someone posted to a 12% off coupon, so I printed it, took it to the store with my receipt and said "Can I apply this coupon?" They said they could, and they did: Got $33.60 refunded.

Then last week, I saw the BB website advertise the sale price of $249.99. I walked into the store again, with my receipt, and said "Can you price match your website? I bought this video card last week for $30 higher." And once again, they refunded me the difference.

Total price in the end was $219.99... no sales tax here either. Not bad...

If you all have trouble with price matching, I'd suggest going back on a different shift when a more lenient CSR is likely to be on duty and try again.

I actually tried 2 BB's just to be sure...no dice. But they did give me til Jan 31st to return them...which I'm very encouraged to do now. 🙁

I just saw that compusa stores are starting to stock up on the bfg 8800gt. Hopefully BB is next!!! They promised me to recieve it by Dec 20th. I am thinking of canceling and going for the compusa deal...

BB has them on sale again for 237 for instore pickup.

Assuming they haven't been out of stock across the state since the first sale.

This is funny.

They have it on sale for $237.99 but then its out of stock in all the stores, plus it is sold out on line so you cant even order it. I called BB and lowered my 249.99 purchase to $237.99 🙂

Go figure why they did this. Still they promise me the card by dec 20th.

Thanks for the info.

Fixed. 😛 BTW if you search Google you'll find a valid 10% off coupon bringing the cost down to $214.19 + tax. If you sign up for a free Rewards Zone membership you may even be able to receive a 12% off coupon in your email.

I went on google and found a %15 off any bfg graphics card. How can you use the coupon. You click on it and still shows the 237.99.

That $238 price is after the 15% off markdown on all BFG cards. You'd need a 10-12% off Reward Zone coupon that can only be used in-store to drop the price lower. And that all depends whether or not you can find them at a B&M. Either way I don't think you could get that price since you already ordered and are waiting on your card to be shipped.

I just became a reward zone member. Hopefully when i do get the card, i will go to the store and somehow get the price lower...

There is a new 12% off coupon, courtesy of FatWallet.com:

BTW, I did't enter my name and profile, and the coupon was accepted.

I paid ~$268 incl. tax on November 9. It was processed today as a return, and re-sold to me immediately for the after-tax price of $228 (~208 + 9% tax).

Didnt this also make you loose your place in line to receive the product?

Also, how did you do this when you cant order online?

I got the actual card a month ago. I was one of the lucky ones to actually come across the "real thing" in the store.

What happened today was based on their 30-day price guarantee, that apparently has been extended until the end of January due to their Christmas holiday policy.

Yeah, no stock here in Phoenix and I'm sure they won't let me pm w/ the rz coupons...again. Bastards.

I think I'm going to get Best Buy to price match me for the 8800GT I ordered on 11/18 for $250, since now it's $238. Called BB earlier today and the lady said the proper department would get back to me in a few days - we'll see if that happens.

How do you like the card? Also, do you use it for FSX ?

LOL. Yeah, I was lucky, just went by the store and thay happened to have one in stock.

I do have the FSX installed, but honestly, I don't have a patience to play it for too long...

Checked it out tonight though, and it seems to be very smooth, with the settings based on these recommendations for the 8800 series:

http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_ttpop_fsx.html

BTW, I love the card, and it is kinda ironic that it is my best performing card thus far, for the least amount of money spent on a Video Card. (6800NU - $300, 7800GS - $300, 7950GT SC - $270, 8800GT - $228)

^^They were wrong. They should just scan the coupon, and the computer will either accept it or not. Shouldn't be their decision.

This is about right... if they are being ostentatious just tell them "look just scan the coupon, if it cannot be used then the computer will reject it, if it can then it will use it."

Its not their call, its the decision of the corporate management, and the rules are all firmly laid into the computer system that manges sales.

I just checked my order from mid november, and they dropped the price automatically for me.
