The sealed box says the card is a GS but the BFG heatsink says GT on it. Can I trust the heatsink?

TIA

What are the clocks? Does it have a fan? Clocks can be checked in the clock frequency tab enabled by coolbits or by downloading a tweaked driver like those offered from www.tweaksrus.com

*Don't forget to complain to NewEgg. That might net you something interesting :)

LOL

I think you can. You may not trust the box, but the heatsink, yes.

According to the title, he ordered a GT in the first place.

I'd return it for a replacement if it was supposed to be new and not a refurbished item.

Well, the box is sealed so I think it's a new item.

There's also a $30 mail-in rebate that requires the original upc off of the box so I'm wondering how that's going to pan out.

<Edit>I just went to the BFG website and checked out both cards. I had assumed that they would both be using the same heatsink/fan but they're very different and I'm certain the card I have is a GT now.

I e-mailed Newegg about the mail-in rebate and the box not matching the actual video card and will see what they say.

Isn't GS AGP and GT PCIe?

Maybe its just a printing error (meaning someone screwed up) on the box?

Same thing happened to me. Though it was strange. I ordered a second BFG 7600GT card to do SLI from Newegg. I got it today and was pissed because the box said 7600GS. I was getting ready to RMA it when I notced it had a GT heatsink on it. I swapped it with my other 7600GT and sure enough, it's a GT. The part numbers match up with my old card.

Maybe they just have a batch with wrong boxes then? I'd still question it first before opening anything.

get it in your computer, and just check the clocks....if its a GT, dont worry about it

i think a good majority of the 7600GS's are actually fanless designs, so if yours has a fan like that of the 7900GT then its very likely you got what you wanted

ok

there, it seems BFG sell both the 7600GS and 7600GT with HSF coolers. the GS cooler looks like the one they stick on the ageia physx cards. and the GT cooler looks like the 7900GT's cooler
