I bought mine from BB a while back $299 bundled with Doom 3 and Farcry. I've read that the extra piplelines cannot be unlocked on these since they're not physically present in the card itself. I hope i read it wrong.. this is awesome if it can be unlocked. How much boost in framerates do you get in Doom3 with the pipes unlocked ? tia

That's not true. Quite a few people have unlocked these cards on the guru3d.com site. But whether you can unlock any individual card is a crapshoot with ANY brand. Sometimes the pipes are damaged so that's why they are made into 12 pipe cards. You'll never get 16 pipes with those. But other times they are just software locked to make a different model. So you very well may unlock those ones. You just never know. Never has the phrase YMMV been more true.

No warranty? How old is it? Good thing about this BFG deal is the lifetime warranty.

My GF3 Ti2 was on starting to die. Picked this up on the way home. Man, it's pretty incredible. The stress test for Counter Strike looks completely different. Water is amazing. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 runs like a champ. Both just look great and run very smoothly. I hated paying $250 for a video card, but it's pretty cool. Unlocked the pipes without a problem. Running great.

Say, my BB had at least two seperate batches of these cards, I noticed the capacitors were different in one area on the board...the area to the upper right side of the heatsink and there is a number that was different.

Some of the cards were "D33088" and some were "D33058" ...I chose the latest number but Id really like some more info on this...if the earlier number was a better card I could always go back and exchange it.

My D33088 Has a damaged pipeline. :(

How did yours turn out?

It was only 2 months old but I don't have the receipt....I'm going to call ATI to try to get it RMA'd but I'm afraid they will notice that I put a VGA silencer on it even if I put the stock one back on. I picked this up in the meantime anyway, if ATI returns it I will put the 9800 in my fiance's computer.

Well last night a BB I impulsively switched my intended buy from a BFG 68000 OC to a GT. I just got a 2001FP and I was afraid of being disappointed with 1600 x 1200 gaming performance with the 6800 OC.
No garantee on unlocking pipes and shaders.

The 128mb of vid memory was also causing me to go for 256mb. I have been at 128mb since gf4ti4600 an now 9800pro. It was time to better future proof my upgrade. $150 more was tough to overcome and no deal at all without farcry.

so stil the 6800OC for $250 no mir with farcry is hot but I could not resist the last GT box staring me in the face aat BB last night.

Last day to get the 6800 for $249!

Im up to 11128 now , OC was 380/872 ..3D mark misreported the core speed.

Superhard, D33088. My BB had card with D33088 and D22058.

Threader, I feel your indecision...I know that is a tough choice but I went with the
straigh 6800 for now , I figure that $150 saved will be a nice down payment on my next card.

All told I feel like I spent $209 on my 6800 since I got Farcry.

Good luck with your GT Threader.
