bfg 6800gt died

do i need a receipt? How long will it take? Will they send me a card first and i can send them back my dead after i get the new?

O.k.

Warranty can vary by manufacturer.

Basic guidelines..

1) Receipt always helps.

2) Abuse/misuse/acts of nature or god not covered.

3) Some manufacturers can go off of the serial number as a basis for manufacture date if you "misplaced" your receipt.

4) If you have done something dumb (overclocked, changed heatsink/fan) put it back to stock if you can. (Generally you would void your warranty by changing the configuration.)

If you broke your hardware, be mature about it and don't abuse the system.

Gentle

actually it was at stock speeds, and all the sudden died on me one day overnight.. swear to god. It was the weirdest thing.

People need to learn to change their sigs before posting questions like this.
ocing will void your warranty, if you do choose to send your card back you usually
do not need your receipt, the couple cards I've sent off to BFG for my customers
went without a hitch. Most likley you will have to send in your card unless they have so
sort of advanced replacement option now.

well youre not bfg are you.. so i guess it doesnt matter

Well, the moment you tell BFG you OC'ed at all they'll immediately hang up if you called them or else inform you there is nothing they can do to help you if you e-mailed them.

Sorry, but thats just the way it is.

And, it'd probably be best for you if you stop trying to say you weren't OC'ing more than to bench, as they'll dig up dirt on you that you forgot was there, you'll just make your case worse and get flamed more.

Just be glad Rollo hasn't seen this yet.

whats your point? that doesnt change anything.... i never did the voltage mod and obviously they can figure that out once they get the card and test the BIOS if they really cared. You people need to get a life

Why would i lie to some people online i don't even know, and have NO relavance to whats going to happen between me and bfg? Obviously nobody really cares on these forums.

you're ABUSING THE SYSTEM

RMAs are there so that customers make sure that the company didnt sell them a defective product! it's people like you who OC whatever you can get your hands on and then, you get surprised when the thing doesnt work . . . then you RMA it, causing higher prices for the rest of us!! :|

I'm not abusing the system... i know EXACTLY where youre coming from and can understand.... but i never did anything to the card in the past 2 months to destroy it so why did it go out on me? It increasingly started to overheat at stock speeds. It was reaching 100C on games like Sims2 that my family plays. One night, i turned off my monitor woke up in the morning turned it on and it was a black screen.. no video feed at all, even my monitor wasnt recieving anything. I restart and it wont go past windows loading screen. GIves me a ton of artifacts and shuts off and does the same thing all over again. I had no lightning nor power surges. I don't know what happend.

please stop flaming me if you dont know the whole story. I didn't ever abuse the card... and i never abused to system nor am i going to. The card went out on me at stock speeds, therefor the card is defective. Honestly it ran better overclocked but thats besides the point

I never said you lied, I'm just saying that you're putting your foot in your mouth and making it worse on yourself. Trust me, compared to what Rollo and some others would be doing to you, we're being nice.

And yes, regardless of you having done something else, you're still abusing the system as you have clearly violated BFGs warranty contract. If I put a VGA Silencer on my card, the fact that it cools better than the stock cooler does is irrelevant, I've modified the card, and thus my warranty. Your situation is no different.

Personally I wish some companies were a little more lenient to OC'ing and putting aftermarket coolers on, but I can live with them not, as they would just open themselves up to being abused by a lot of people. Since people prove time and time again they are not trustworthy, I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt if I was a company.

You can tell BFG that it was running stock when it went out, but the moment they hear you OC'ed at all ever they will say there's nothing they can do.

And i understand... but my point is... it went out when it wasnt overclocked. It leads me to believe it wasnt my fault.. thats why im wanting to RMA it. I had a lightning strike back a few months ago and probably could have RMA'd a 9700pro if i really wanted to but decided not to because obviously.. thats a situation of abusing the system, because i already got my money from the insurance company. Its sitting in a pile of junk in my closet... perfectly good 9700pro just a few months ago. Its dissapointing but i got over it. This is a $400 card and it went out when i wasnt abusing it and hadnt for a long while. I don't think it was my fault.... not saying its BFG's and im spitting nails... i just would like them to replace it so i can have a working card.

Also... i dont care what rollo would say. I dont have anything against him but why would i give a crap what he says? OMG my forum rep would be destroyed!!! i just dont care...

No, you don't understand..

You keep saying that the card died at stock speeds, so you should be entitled to a RMA...WRONG!!!!...You ran the card for god knows hows long with the core 50 mhz & the ram 100 mhz OC'd...YOU ran the card out of spec, it was not intended to run those speeds and now you see it couldnt, BOTTOM LINE!!!..If you wanted a ultra, you shouldnt have been cheap and bought one😕

Ponder this:

You buy a new car and drive it around with the tach in the redline the whole time. then one day you let the car IDLE to warm up in the morning. The motor throws a rod idling...Was it just a bad motor or did YOU cause it to die early ?? Should you be entitled free warranty replacement on the engine ??

ohhh mannnn this guy got massive pwned. I hope EVDAWG gets what's coming to him because people who abuse the RMA system truly are jerks. If you had accepted the fact that your card died because you OC'ed it or whatever, then I will feel some sympathy to your cause. But seeing you tried to cover your traces I want BFG to smother you in apathy and disregard?! GOOOOO CHUCKY CHEESE!!!

But I seriously think that if someppl buy a $400 dollars card and it died suddenly and the card wasn't even oc at that time, but it was overclocked before,in this case, I think 99.99% of the ppl will use the RMA system. That is why ppl need lifetime warranty, to insure themselves. It is selfish but it is the nature. If a person's $400 card died like this and he didn't RMA out of his "good heart and good will" to be fair to the company, then he must be a dumbass. I don't care what company it is, but all company are evil and they make huge profit from computer products. As if it is for me, I won't even feel sorry for the company if I have to RMA. It is just what I have already paid for.

Pretty sad there are people like this who truly believe they aren't in the wrong to RMA a piece of hardware. Yes, it died at stock speeds, but you already voided the warranty by doing your voltage mod and ocing the videocard. Wow, I am amazed at your pathetic reasoning and rationale.

lol, some ppl are just too honest, never work against your own profit. I support
Evdawg to RMA for his own benefit. If some ppl can imagine that the case happens to himself, then he will know how it feels and I bet he will do the same thing as Evdawg. Some ppl just like to pretend to be honest and justified. Sure, the case doesn't happen to him................ and he got nothing to lose, lol, just wait until the day he get into these situations............

So who should take the fall for his actions ?? Him of BFG ??...It pretty sad that (MOST LIKELY) he had something to do with the card dying and can't take responsibility for his actions🙁

Why not be a man and learn from your mistakes ? Sure its most likley a $400+ mistake, but its his fault.
