Can a BFG 6800 Ultra Overclocked GeForce Video Card run in a Dell 4600 safely? It is a P4 2.4 HT with a 1gig ram but I am worried about the power this monster card uses.
The answer depends entirely on your power supply. You need 1 if not 2 power connectors for this card, preferably on a line that is dedicated to the video card.
Does anyone on this board with a Dell 4600 know what the power supply is?
I am at work right now and would like to get this deal at Dell with a 25% coupon and well as a $100 concession coupon to make a very sweet price. But I fear the power supply on this machine will not cut it.
Link Looks like a 250W PSU. The minimum for a 6800GT is a 300W PSU (and that's allowing el cheapo 300W units too), so if there isn't too much extra stuff in the system I'd say it should work, but I'd save $100 and just get a GT and either overclock it or get the price difference in $1 bills and play with it and not miss much performance at all.
