Oh hi new to the forums hope I can get some help and provide help as time goes by... to my question

I bought the BFG 6800 GT from Best Buy cause I work there and got a sweet discount but anyways I read the softmod How to unlock pipes and vertex for 6800nu and have a strange situation. When I look to customize the card it shows I already have 16pipelines and 6 vertex open heres a pic

Now I am generally an unlucky guy so someone please explain how the BFG 6800 GT shows me having 16 pipelines when it suppost to have 12... I'm all kinds of confused.

Hehe... NU stands for Not Ultra, but actually what it means is not only Not Ultra but the cheapest/simpliest version of the card (usually). What you have is a 6800GT which is not what people consider to be a NU.

You're lucky, your card (6800GT) already comes with all 16 pipelines. There's nothing to unlock, enjoy!

Only the 6800 (plain, or what people call the "NU" model) comes with 12 pipes. All the other 6800 models have 16 pipelines (there are a few exceptions I believe, some odd models here and there that only have 12).

GT is supposed to have 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders. plain 6800 is the one with 12/5.

ahh well I wasn't lucky working all those holidays for Best Buy which gave me the money and discount to afford it, thanks for the explanation I was thinking there were only two versions for the 6800 series the GT and Ultra so theres a lesser version w/ 128mb memory probably and 4 pipelines disabled got it... thx man
