BFG 6800 GT Freezing/Stuttering issues

In newer games (especially Battlefield 2 and the FEAR beta and HL2 even) I get periods of about 2 to 5 seconds where my image and sound will stop and the sound will loop super fast and then resume normally...i have a fast computer, an athlon 64 3400+ with an epox 8kda3+ mobo with 1gig of ram, what could be causing this? I just defragged, updated my video/mobo drivers, and my bios...gah!

Uh, you should probably only post this in one forum. It'll be tough for users to keep track of responses if they're split between two threads.

Anywho, this guy is having the same problem. You should probably try all of these fixes one at a time and see what works.

I had the stuttering problem myself, eventually unchecking Write Combining solved the problem. Obviously it didn't for this guy, but I'd say try it first.

BF2 still isn't running great, but i think that's just the game, seems really buggy imho...but fear is fantastic now, no stutters at all, same with hl2, wuwu!

Buy an ATI, a real mans card.

Actualy BF2 is buggy I hear, so buggy that 1 gig of system resources is used.
