Very few review sites even do BF4 and the ones that do are mostly doing SP which isn't relevant at all because 64 MP conquest large maps is heaps more taxing on the system. We need to demand better from these review sites, they are just slacking off, reviewing a purely MP game using SP is just wrong.

They don't have the guts to do it because MP isn't repeatable enough for them. The info is still valuable and what people actually want to see, but they won't do it. That's why its up to us to post the numbers for each other.

I thought that people already concluded that this was purely a core parking issue effecting SMT and CMT cores, and is easily solved without going to 8.1.

Have they? I've heard that sometimes it helps and other times it doesn't. I can't confirm because windows 7 is GONE forever from my rig. We would have to find someone with stuttering issues on windows 7, make sure core parking is off. It it doesn't fix it, install windows 8 and retest etc etc.
I have a friend with a first gen i7 and two 5870's. He didn't have stuttering at all under windows 7, but going to windows 8.1 launched his FPS through the roof going from 60 to 90.

I'm not exaggerating when I say BF4 runs better than BF3 did for me, with higher minimums and much higher average FPS, with the same hardware and SLI enabled. Know why? I've said it a million times and people don't care enough to take action on it. Windows 8.1 fixed the performance issues completely coming from windows 7. My only issue is I don't have enough vram to have textures on Ultra. Those have to be set to high, but all else is Ultra and runs like a 2 year old game thanks to windows 8.1.
If this game is important to you, windows 7 is gimping you like you wouldn't believe.

I'm also running Win 8.1. Are you using the latest drivers as well ? 331.65 ?

Sometimes if I know the map I'm playing will run fine, I just disable SLI before I play. I figured the stutter is going to go away with a driver update.

Yes using those drivers with no performance issues of any kind. Any issues are network related such as rubber banding. Also, I get the crashes which many experience, both AMD and Nvidia. No stuttering anymore and high FPS.

Unfortunately I cannot really help there. I despise Tiles 8 and I also do not have an SMT enabled processor.

It worked for me, but I'm not interested in the issue enough to install Windows 8 and see if there is even more of an increase. Its running great now, so even if there was an additional 25% performance increase with Windows 8 I wouldnt bother.

Definitely was from a CPU bottleneck then. I did good :D.

I suppose it was a cpu bottleneck of some form. Thanks to everyone for the advice. It's not perfect but a marked improvement over the massive stuttering I was experiencing before turning off parking. One thing I do notice is flicker while in BF4 and running SLI. Not sure what that is all about but other than that it seems to run pretty well.

Running the 331.65 drivers on my SLI 780 setup and performance is terrible. Very jerky and stuttery. Not smooth at all. Game plays great in single GPU configuration. Do I just have to wait until NVIDIA fixes their drivers?

i7-3770k @ 4.4ghz
Z77-Sabertooth
8GB 2133 GSKILL
Corsair HX-750

Yes. It is a momentary problem. Wait for the fix, will come soon.

I had problems on Windows 7 during beta but have been on Windows 8 since BF4 came out and SLI is running very well. I am also getting around 150 fps reasonably reliably as well which is great.

I don't think its slacking.

It just requires alot more work to benchmark on a multiplayer server when the players and the environment is changing constantly.

I agree that SP numbers do not equal MP performance, but for most of these sites when doing these reviews and rounds up they don't have alot of time.

Maybe reviewers should rent a server where they can have abit more control of the environment to make it easier i'm not sure really.....

The Irony is not lost on me.

AMD fixes CF and SLI is now broken.

You couldnt make this up...

Warning issued for thread crapping.

CF is absolutely not fixed, AMD still has big issues with it. The thing is, the game is optimized for AMD (as we already know) also the game is not complete. nvidia is doing an amazing job at performing well, while still under these conditions. But they have to work hard, and its not going to be perfect all the time untill the game is finished. Further down the road a few small optimizations for nvidia will come out, but we are really just needing to see the game finished. nvidia will prevail :p despite the optimization difference.

In your dreams, Nvidia will prevail.

CF on the new R series cards is way better than before.
Go read some reviews.

As for the older cards CF issues, AMD tried to fix it with drivers. They had made some improvements
For their current state, we need the review sites to do a review again.
Although they seem to have forgotten the older cards ever since the R series came out.
