OK, so it was announced on origin this morning and will come fall of 2013. DICE is known for requiring gamers to have the latest and greatest just in order to get playable FPS with their new games running on max settings. Will BF4 be any different?

My prediction: BF4 @ 1080p running maxed in order to get 60fps constant at time of game release will be...impossible. Haswell won't do it and sandy/ivy doesn't stand a chance. The game will, yet again, be at least a full generation ahead of CPU performance and probably on par with GPU tech at time of release for dual GPU setups with more than 2gb of Vram. Dual high end cards of late 2013 will be needed.

I count on my current rig getting good FPS at low-medium settings with no AA.

My bold prediction. 79.99 for standard edition, DLC packs galore. Then 3 months after release a mega DLC pack for 39.99 that unlocks everything.

With such a tiny amount of time between BF3 and predicted BF4 release date there is a good chance there are little to no meaningful changes to the engine that would require such a steep increase hardware requirements.

My prediction is that the franchise will become like CoD and there will be little in the way of improvements, a new singleplayer campaign mostly with a handful of the maps converted for multiplayer, probably another $100 worth of expansion packs planned for post release.

I would like to think that DICE has more self respect than that. But then again, they are EA's bitch, so they can take a turn for the worst like the whole COD deal. COD makes me sick. COD and aMd are made for eachother. COD runs on 10 year old hardware and aMd runs like 10 year old hardware.

I would not be upset if BF4 was on a modified version of Frostbite 2, or even the same version BF3 is on now. The game looks great, and with a little tweaking it could easily do well for a 2013 title. It would be nice if my rig could last for more than one BF game.

I was disappointed with BF3. It felt... clunky. BF:BC2 was WAY WAY better in pretty much every respect. That said, BF3 is still lightyears ahead of the crap Activision puts out, so if it's even marginally better than BF3, I'll probably pick it up the moment it hits $25.

I love BF3, but i'm not biting on this $50.00 premium crap. Since when does a PC game cost $100.00

Wat? Where are you guys getting these system requirements from?

Itll be frostbite 2, the same as BF3. They put a lot into that engine, it can use 8 cores so itll be kicking around for many many years to come. It wouldnt surprise me if 10 years from now EA are still using a modified version of the same engine, hell they kept the SAGE engine around for almost that time in the C&C series.

Yeah I'm a little chapped I bought Premium now. Think I would have waited and just bought bf4 next year...
I mean the last DLC for bf3 is coming out in what spring/summer of 2013. Doesn't seem like a long time to enjoy the last dlc before bf4 is out

The game won't be coming Fall 2013. The BETA will be coming Fall 2013.

The full game may not come out until as late as 2014.

Way to butcher your information.

I predict that this ^ prediction is pretty predictable and is most likely the prediction that will come to pass.

I'd rather play Planetside 2 and save money. Battlefield is going to look like a tiny skirmish compared to Planetside's scale.

I don't think I'll be getting it. I've loved the series since BF:1942 but BF3, while fun, has pretty much put it to bed for me.

This. The transition to CoD with nonkillstreak vehicles will be complete. There will be another Premium deal, and to be clear, there's nothing wrong with a package of DLC, but then we have experience boosters and other pay 2 win things - not the least of which will be the ability to unlock all the weapons for $40.

Of course all that stuff wouldn't matter if they made it play like a real Battlefield game, where teamwork matters.

Personally, if I were guessing, my only positive prediction would be that, due to the influence of Planetside 2, they might bring back in game VOIP. They might increase player counts to up to 96 for PC but...then again maybe not, because since the consoles will be the same, they won't be able to have an increase.

This is kinda how I feel. I do enjoy BF3, and I've had a lot of fun with it, but with the direction that EA is going I'd be hesitant to buy any more installments.

This is a company that promised "We'll never charge for Battlefield maps," and then basically changed their mind and went "Ha! Just kidding!", as they're now currently selling:

Back to Karkand DLC
Close Quarters DLC
Weapon Unlock/Booster Packs
Battlefield "Premium" DLC pass

And let's not forget this little doozy, said by the CEO of EA himself.

With the small window between 3 & 4 there will not be anything ground breaking brought in the tech front for BF4.

Will be the same Frostbite 2 engine with some minor tweaks. I expect the hardware requirements will be exactly like BF3.

Guess they are going the CoD route with constant new releases and 4 or 5 DLCs packs per. :/

I don't mind that they want to make one every 2.5 years and in fact I embrace THAT idea, except it's not Battlefield style anymore, and they are going back on previous tenets sch as "We'll never charge for Battlefield maps". If they want to issue a new one every 2 years, great, but stop watering it down and surrounding it with controversy.

At first I thought DICE was trying to turn BF3 into CoD by including so many rat-maze maps and placing flags all near each other.

Then I thought I was right when they put out DLC that is nothing but rat-maze maps.

Now I know I'm right since BF is now on a CoD schedule for release.

RIP the Battlefield I knew and loved. Here's to hoping another dev will bring back the gameplay of Battlefield.

My prediction:

It will be optimized for phones and tablets and touch screen shooting via Win 8 so you can just put your finger on the screen and headshot and it will sell 500million copies worldwide, yet mysteriously no one on AToT will claim to have purchased it, and the company will still complain that they lost money because of pirates.

To be fair, it's not on a CoD schedule (yet). Battlefield and Medal of Honor will be taking turns every year, so BF will be releasing every two years rather than every one year AFAIK.

At this point you have to wonder - where's Bad Company and 2143?

Not that Bad Company is really a distinction anymore, with the main BF series now directly competing with CoD.

I don't mind the DLC's, they add a little something, I do wish they were cheaper though, maybe 20%-30%.

Ya'll complain so much.

I actually prefered BF3 over BC2, once BF3 came out, I have not touched BC2 once. It is far superior MP gameplay imo.

In what ways is BF3 not true to classic BF style? Sure, there are some cramped maps, but regarding the larger maps, how is this not exactly like BF2? I hardly play the samll maps and when playing the large ones, it feels a lot like BF2 to me.
