BF3 on 3 30" monitors + 4x EVGA GTX-Titan SC (4-Way SLI)!

Finally got around to recording some gameplay on the Uber Rig.

4x EVGA GTX-Titan SC in 4-Way SLI @ 1176Mhz on 3 Dell U3011 @ 5160x2560 (3x1 Portrait Surround). Rig has an i7 3970X @ 4.8Ghz!

Gameplay with everything maxed out (Ultra) including 4x MSAA gives around 85 - 120 FPS! Sometimes, depending on the map, the FPS drops slightly but the gameplay is phenomenal at this resolution with the Titan SCs in 4-Way SLI.

Let me know what you guys think!

Will be uploading more videos soon of BF3 and other games!

Pretty cool, this reminds me of how pissed I would get when friends would come over and play on my setup and then try to snipe. Reducing any advantage the 3 screens were giving them.

Grrrr, ACOG if you want to do more of a marksman type role in the corridors since it doesn't have the scope glint. Also, turn off the laser for those long range shots. 😛

Awesome setup. I enjoyed your Crysis 3 video as well.

I have to ask why they don't make monitors with near zero frames for multi-monitor configurations. Having that 2xone inch between them doesn't help the effect.

Very nice setup.

I remember spending $2300 for the NEC 21" CRT, yikes.

I really don't see how that's any better than just one monitor oriented landscape. It doesn't appear like you can see any more, only now you have two huge ass black lines separating your view.

if this setup can push 60fps absolute minimum with "all" the eye candy on.

now that the perforamance can be verified. might do it too. would run it landscape instead though.

can you post min/max/avg fps and can you post frametimes.

thanks.

Since you have the income for a quad Titan, why not dish out another 2.5K and play on this?

Get rid of the bezels once and for all 🙂

Those vertical bezels/bezels at all in multi-monitor-gaming would irk the hell out of me.

Yeah, whiles its an impressive setup on paper it actually looks fairly awful, the bezels on multi-display are bad enough normally but 30" bezels are even worse, it's just not very nice.

I'd look at hooking that kind of horsepower up to something like a multi-projector display to get a seamless picture, or even a 4k projector/TV if that's possible.

You say that, but once you are in game you don't see them.

I moved back to a single larger monitor, but was playing 3x120Hz screens and it was an excellent experience.

Portrait mode is pretty lame. All you really gain is higher resolution over a single larger screen, and you get larger bezel gaps.

Landscape mode is far better, usually the bezels are smaller and you actually gain FOV.

I really wish that monitor companies would start making extremely thing bezel monitors. You would think it would be cheaper using less plastic right? The ones on TVs are already amazingly thin, why not on decent monitors?

Actually, your brain cancels out the black bars and all you see is seamless screen. I assume you've never used a multi-monitor setup.

EDIT: Originally posted this purely as a troll (something I rarely do), but I see now that it is at least somewhat true. Trolling failed.

please get back on topic. this thread is not about bezel size.

such opinions are from folks who have no clue what they talking about. if you own multi monitor surround. you would realize that you get used to the bezel of the monitor just like you get used to the A pillar of a car when driving. it becomes a non issue.

how many of you refuse to driver because of the A pillar of a car?

I refuse to driver because I can't noun a verb!

Seriously though, I never don't notice the A pillar of my car. And if they made a car I would buy without one somehow, I would welcome it. You can get used to the bezel of a multi monitor setup or you can refuse to buy one until companies make it less obtrusive.

And back on topic? What was this thread about again? Oh, the OP was bragging about his setup with 3 monitors (which all have bezel!) and 4 Titans. Nice setup, minus the annoying bezel of the monitors.

Well that's obnoxious. It is about that setup, and bezel size is part of that.

Just because someone has a different opinion that you whether that matter doesn't mean the insult you posted.

"I say vanilla is best, so everyone who prefers chocolate has no clue!"

All kinds of things in the user experice become a non-issue FOR SOME PEOPLE, and NOT FOR OTHERS. I can't stand a lot of distracting decals on the bezel; some don't care.

The next upgrade has to be 6 projectors with polarized lenses, for added full color 3D, no bezels, and surround effects. Bonus points for curved screen and fish-eye lenses to compensate.
I don't think it'll even be that much more expensive. HD-projectors are getting affordable, and you don't need a massively powerful one to cover a screen around 4 feet in diameter. The remaining challenge is merely getting everything wired up, a decent set of metallic screens, and convince the graphics driver to output left/right eye images to separate video outputs (or find a 120Hz stereo to 2x60Hz mono frame splitter?).

Why not just get a couple 4k screens? Or a 4k projector? I think I saw a movie that boasted to use a 4k projector recently.
