NS was a pain in the ass for me. I bought the deluxe version of the game, thinking that it would just be installed and activated out the box. Nope. It had some stupid activation method that never worked, and I had to actually call up EA customer support for NS to finally work. Annoying as hell.

I opened up a support ticket on monday, they said 24hrs maximum is their response time. I tried to "live chat" with someone and they said it would be 45 minutes....3 hours later nothing. I actually just fixed the game so it will let me join some servers, but on others it tells me to revert to the original verrsion.....wtf man EA customer support is crap, but i love battlefield =]

you have to patch it again after installing NS. you have to basically run the same patch twice, once before NS and once after it.

Hmm...

I didn't do any fancy patching. Once I talked to EA support, it was magically activated on my account.

oh then you should be good. there are instances when you get modified content error if the server is switching maps and you happen to finish loading the map before the server. is your computer really fast by chance?

anyways, i've seen a lot of people have issues with this with installing NS and getting modified content error. i noticed people have problems when they used the full 1.5 patch versus the 1.4-1.5 incremental patch. hopefully the next patch that will include NS will get rid of all these patching errors people experience.

i myself recently installed 2142 on a fresh window 7 install. i went from DVD to 1.4 then NS, then 1.4 again, then incremental to 1.5. this is how i've always installed and had zero problems with modified content errors.

if you're using 1.5 full patch, do yourself a favor and trash it. get the 1.4 and 1.4 to 1.5 incremental patch.

look in your downloader folder and in one of the folders named cache something i believe is the NS file. just back up this file and you'll never have to re-download it again.

Agreed. However BFBC2 is even better than BF2 so I lost interest in all the other BF games. :)

Dear God man, have you lost your mind?

Anyway, even though they made BF2 worse with patching and I don't like 2142, it's nice to see them still working on the games.

i like 2142.. havent played it in a while..

but the gunships are so much easier to fly then helicopters...
And i kinda loved the titan maps.

Also walkers are pretty cool...

Ah god I naively thought that the thread title meant a new incarnation of 2142 re-skinned with Frostbite. That, I think, would be the best game ever...ever (for me).

lol i think tequila will enjoy MoH

BFBC2 completely destroys BF2, MW2 and anything else out there. BFBC2 graphics are in a league of its own. The sounds are frickin amazing. The destruction engine puts an end to campers. Spawning on any squad mate makes for furious battles. The weapons and the pace of the unlocks are just right. No endless grenade spamming like in BF2. What the hell is not to like about this game?

The only two things I wish would be toned down is the CG splash damage and knife kills are way too easy.

Hahaha, end to campers, tell that to the 10 snipers you see on every server.

Oh, and the maps suck. BFBC1 had much better maps. All the maps feel cramped compared to the maps in the original.

Uh try some tactics. I love it when the opposing team is loaded with snipers. I and/or my mates just lay down 40mm smoke and whip around them. You can pretty tell which team is going to lose by which has the most snipers lol.

This game is all about teamwork which is why the lone wolf types probably don't like it.

The maps do suck, to an extent. Anyone who played the previous BFs is used to large maps with distance between flags, kill zones, different routes, etc. All the BFBC2 maps could fit in in just front 3 flags of Karkand, or Sharqi. Less travel time for the ADD I guess. That said, the BC2 maps are much more detailed. If they can make BF3 with BC2 detailed maps the size of BF2 then we are on.

I love BFBC2, don't get me wrong. But to say that it's the perfect incarnation of Battlefiled is a stretch.

Edit. Sounds like you play a lot of Rush Tequila. Snipers are the bane of their own team in the mode for sure. Minus the 3 that actually know what they are doing.

Oh yea, good recon who are good with the sniper rifle, throw the recon balls and use mortar at the right time are very important. In fact the first recon guy I really admired was the one who travelled with our squad throwing recon balls while we mopped up. He was pretty good with the pistol too :) But when a team is loaded with recon that camp their ass in one spot they get destroyed by good teams that know how to advance with smoke.

And yes I play mostly Rush. I love that mode!

If it's coming out tomorrow I guess I'll have to reinstall 2142. I never really liked 2142 as much as BF2.
