But after re-intstalling the game (never got re-loaded after a re-do) I can't get the right resolution for my monitor. Anyways, latest patch is still 1.5 right? Could it be a problem with my monitor?
 
add -szx [number] and -szy [number] to your shortcut.

Mine reads
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1360 +szy 768

where my native res is 1360x768

no you need to add the command line +widescreen 1, then jump into the game and it will show the various widescreen resolutions. you don't need to do that szx szy crap. i got to run 1920x1200 from the video option menu, albeit it's a little squished.
