I usualy play as a squad leader, with a med kit to heal my squad members. I specialize in attacking bases.
I like to play on full 64 player servers, that rotate all maps, and that have all vehicles and other settings as they were originaly made to played.

It's a lot of fun!

I would love to try a professional server or clan, but never got into that as I like to play when I feel like it, not on a schedule or some such.

Funny thing, in 5 years of playing, I have never seen a girl playing!

How about you?

I am not good as a squad leader because I don't fall behind to be used as a spawn point too often.

I haven't run into many females on BF2, but I have played with a couple.

I'm generall squad leader as I am very familiar with nice spawn points for my team. I'm aggressive and tend to stay alive for my squad to spawn with me so I'm either Medic or Support. Medic is a must have in your squad for obvious reasons.

64 player servers tend to be too chaotic, 32 is a bit more maintained, depends on the map of course.

In special Forces, Ghost Town and Warlord are by far my favorite maps with vehicles. When on those maps, I'm either Anti-Tank, Engineer or Support.

I'm part of a very small clan, 6 people tops so it makes creating a squad and having friends on ventrilo more exciting. Teamplay is so key in this game.

Never played with females, although I have seen some in game, so they say.

I used to squad-lead - sometimes I still do but not so much. Mostly these days I'm the idiot playing Medic with G36E giving everyone a headache. Well, not quite, I'm often anti-tank and engineer as required. . . but now I think about it, rarely Assault, Support or Sniper, if ever.

I used to play in a really good clan (not that the clan was "good", we lost every time in Clanbase) but it was so good to have a group of familiar buddies to play with and against, and the clan's own server was always a good game without silliness. Alas, they all moved on to 2142 for reasons I could never fathom. I've tried to find a good clan to join since, but never quite managed to fit in anywhere.

The game plays so differently depending on where/who you play with. Some servers all the clan folks get on one side and own all the time, and that's no fun. Sometimes it's just full of lone-wolf idiots. . . so difficult to find the middle ground.

Can I ask, once and for all, who the hell is it that loves playing the SAME map OVER AND OVER AND OVER? You can't love Karkand/Wake THAT much. I've not managed to play Songhua Stalemate in a year or more.

I usually play medic or AT, sometimes I'll snipe. Spec ops only if I'm jihad Jeeping some pesky tank or need to blow arty in the uncap. Assault can be fun but since they nerfed the GL a few years ago, it's less useful than medic, can't beat the G36e. Support can be useful, but the PKM has too wide a spread now, usually get killed by people relatively easy. My clan has a server, but the game is losing popularity to things like COD and TF2. We still truck on, but I can't wait for BF3, the destructible environments should be pretty awesome.

It's frustrating the game won't be out for at least another year, which puts it at like a 5 year time frame since 2142 even, as a release for the PC in the BF franchise (not including BF1943 in sept). The fact that they've had (or will have) 3 releases since then for console only pisses me off.

I've done this before. It was mainly in an infantry only type of server. I used to play Warlord religiously until I realized I nearly perfected the map. It was a great way to move up in ranks as I knew soo many tactics and areas to come in and simply kill. Great map for infantry only.

Then I started playing Ghost Town 24/7 map, same thing there. Its a good way to fully understand the entire map. I'm open to any server really, but I can't do Wake Island 24/7. Something about that map just gets to me. It can go skewed round after round where the Chinese just bombard the carrier and we never get a flag. That isn't fun AT ALL.

Any of the maps where the US start out having to capture a flag on the mainland, either from the carrier or Operation Cleansweep where it's an island. . . can get so broken so often, because the US can't get a flag. It's the one thing about the game that bugs me.

Except Claymores. Claymores are not automatic friend-or-foe death sentries in real life, they go off when you press a button, or at best a tripwire. . .should be like the C4.

And mines. . . you used to be able to shoot them with the tank, like in real life, but they nerfed that.

I'm either Sniper or Support. Support is important in a Squad to give ammo to the Anti-Tank.

If there are vehicles, I almost always play AT. I can't stand coming up on a heavy vehicle and just having to hide. I'm not any good at C4'ing, they always see me before I can plant, and switch to the detonator.

I enjoyed it when they came out with Infantry only, because then I could play Support (mostly PKM). I play support because I can't stand running out of ammo! :disgust: Frequent reloading leads to bunny hopping. And that's just embarassing...

If you are good you should be playing all classes depending on the situation:

Medic is your all-around calm infantry battle
Support is your shit-load of people/nade spam infantry battle
Engineer if you plan to get inside armor
AT if you are defending a flag that is being raped by armor
Spec-ops if you plan to adventure in the UCB, blow up their shit and steal something
Sniper if you want to keep your distance, also handy if you are waiting on a pad and there is enemy in your base
Assault is pretty much useless, use it when you are flying so you can rake in kills with that class

And special forces rocks :p

Anti-Tank as a squad member. I like playing a support (not the BF2 class) role. I go and do what needs to be done. I don't like stalemates.

Of course, if I can get in the attack chopper as the gunner, I'm in heaven.

I played in BF2 Combat, and in that kind of extremely competitive settings you play medic unless otherwise specified, because the L86 is an amazing gun and health/revival is key to reducing ticket loss.

AT is useful if you're on an armor map, but only if you have at least 3 in your squad, otherwise it'll take more than one volley for a tank.

Engineer for manning armor.

1 Support per squad to keep ammo up.

Every other class is pretty much used for very specialized stuff, taking out commander pieces, etc. In other words, you shouldn't be playing them unless you know you should be.

Call me crazy but I think I prefer 2142. Most people say BF2 is superior but I can't see why.

My take on this, as somebody who prefered BF2 . . . .

I guess I'm interested in the background, the setting. . . the real world modern warfare setting works for me. In comparison 2142 felt a little. . . . I don't know, empty? The guns didn't "feel" right, the giant walking things didn't sit right with me. The tank wasn't as good as a BF2 tank. . .

I forget most of my reasons, it's been a few years now. The only real one I can remember was when I read about the special powers you could unlock. So the snipers can turn invisible now. . . do I want that? No. . .

I suppose if I ever played as sniper maybe I'd change my tune :)

I just play on my own and I never accept joining squads unless it being obligatory on the server I play, otherwise I'm a lone wolf, but I do my best to contribute to the team, I don't just do random things, I try my best to come up with support for my teammates whenever I can, I just don't like having to follow specific orders, since they often aren't appropriate, and I wouldn't feel like telling the rest of the entire team about my "useless opinion". In the end, as long as I try my best to make my team win and I kill enemies all is good.

I played in BF2C for over a year, then I switched to another tourny, can't remember what it was called though. Anyway I was always in the 1TB, 1st Tank, so I was always an engineer for vehicle repair. I remember those 10 hour battles (or was it 12?) and the aircraft shooting competition (with the tank). One battle day I bagged 5 helo's and 1 mig... that was amazing.

Anyway, on pub play I was almost always AT with either the P90 or DAO. I loved that position, "sniping" snipers with the AT rocket was one of my fav things to do.

Sniper is amazing in this game. Otherwise, any class with a decent rifle will do. I only chose anti-tank if there's a vehicle that needs to get owned asap.

I usually play medic, sniper or AT.

Medic when I'm on jet most of the time other wise I'll snipe. AT when I need to bust up a tank for my team.

I usually play lone wolf or squad leader. I don't need a squad to kill bunch of nubs.

My fav. map is Wake. I'll play other maps but don't enjoy as much as Wake.

I play everything. It depends on what type of situation my team is in. If we're winning, I usually play assault, sniper, spec ops, medic, engineer and er...well okay, if we're winning, I play whatever I feel like playing.
