Hey all-
I was going to reinstall my copies of BF2 and BF2SF. What is the install order for the updates, and are there any new updates? I haven't played for about 2 years!
Thanks!

I think it's BF2, BF2SF, patch 1.41, any expansion packs (Armored fury or Euro Forces), re-patch, frag!

If you have expansions besides what you said, then it should be:

BF2, BF2:SF (it will apply an old patch during install)
Patch 1.41
Highway Tampa

I did this over the weekend and ended up downloading the complete pack from EA. I can only find infantry servers near me though, which is a bit of a disappointment. One used to easily deal with dolphin divers with tank shells or APC rounds. :p

This thread made me reinstall BF2. Haven't played it in a year or two so though I'd jump back in. I could never get the damn Knife Badge. I could never knife 7 people in one game. I never got past that.

i reinstalled it this year and couldn't get over the fact that a game made in 2005 has no real widescreen support. that and the fact that all the teamplay servers seem to be gone. i played on tacticalgamer and was proud of the fact that i never had a single ranked point. god pubs were worthless.

Pistol and Knife badge area extremely difficult to get... unless you do a 64 map infantry only server. Then it may get easy. Those games tend to take long and is a huge free for all for you to simply focus on that objective.

As for widescreen... you may want to google it as there is a way to trick your shortcut to have the resolution you are looking for.

I've taken a huge break from BF2: SF. Played it religiously for years but after a reformat, i've held off because it started to feel a little old for me. I simply kept owning lol.

I'm waiting for the 1.5 patch to see how the new map looks and plays.

When playing, it all revolves around the server. You have to find a good server, otherwise, you fall into the sterotype of the game and what everyone bashes about it.

Stick with Ghost Town and Warlord with vehicles. When you introduce no vehicles, you'll find yourself with a lot of good players who you may think are cheating but in general, they aren't. They just mastered the map and the kits. I would love it when I would get accused of cheating. n00bs ;)

You need BF2 Widescreen fixer. This has worked well in the past and Punkbuster allows it now (which is awesome). Though I hear the 1.5 patch fixes the wide screen issue.

It's been confirmed by DICE that patch 1.5 will include widescreen support. I'm finally looking to get a 24" widescreen as a result.

No ETA on final 1.5 patch as of yet. Since public interest in the beta patch has waned, DICE's attention seems to have waned as well. After a flurry of activity, no update in weeks.

I believe it took 3'ish months from the thought process of having a 1.5 beta before it hit the servers. I would expect a similar time frame if not more on an actual release.
