BF2 Question

Im wondering how effectively my gf's (no pics you nerds!) computer will handle BF2

athlon 64 3000
chaintech nforce3 250
gig of mushkin value ram
radeon 9600 NP fanless


it exceeds the min. requirements in the cpu and RAM area, but the video is kind of scraping the bottom. any idea how this will play? will she need to upgrade her video card?

my rig plays 800x600 w/ 2AA or 1024x768 w/ no AA at acceptable fps. not sure what fps i am getting because i don't know the d@mn command to view it...

plays good om my xp 3200 512 mb OF ram, Sapphire RAdeon 9600 Pro Advanatge 256 MB, pn low seeting but still loooks good.

Surprisingly plays decently at lowest settings with 256MB SDRAM, 1.5GHz P4 Willamette, 9800 Pro 128MB, so yeah, it should do fine. A 6600GT would make it complete though.

uhhh try it and see if its acceptable to you? It is free.. It looks good to go though. The video is a little weak but other than that.

Yes, It should do well! I have a Pentium III(s) 1.4GHz Tualatin Server Core CPU with a single stick on 512mb cas2 ram and an ATI 9700pro. Battlefield 2 Plays fine on my pc.

those 512K cache tualatin p3s @ 1.4 are awesome chips, they were beating p4s when the p4 just came out, so your p3 is probably faster than a 1.7 p4... don't be fooled by it being a p3.

what are your settigs?

your 9700 pro is what is keeping it good for you, a 9600np will probably not play as well as your system due to the 9600np being the bottleneck.

keep in mind its my gf's rig, not mine. mine plays it just fine...see sig. 😛

she downloaded the demo, and although i havnt seen it played on her computer she said its fine. meh, ill have to see just what "fine" is later tonight.

thanks, will give it a try... looks like i get a low of 30fps and a high of 99 with my 9800pro oc to 400/stock ram.

The 9700 Pro is not a bottleneck at all. I am getting 90FPS! My settings are done and set automaticly by the game. My resolution is 800x600, the game looks awesome even with all of the detail settings to low and medium. Because I have an Audigy 2 ZS, sound is set to high quality with hardware accelaration. This game performs much better than Battlefield Vietnam, but I am not sure if it is as much fun. The Orignal 1942 is still the king!

I know the Tualatin CPU beats early P3 Williameete's, It was the smarter buy back in those days; Especially when you consider that PC133 SDRAM Was a he-doubble-l of a lot cheaper than the RAMBUS that was being forced on us, plus I got to re-use my old 256 stick (Even more reason). PIII Tualatin was the better, cooler (25-30watts)performing, and cheaper chip.

The game plays very smooth on my system. I turned down the shodows to try and get rid of that annoying shadow bug but all the other details are on max.

Does anyone know if there is a hack yet for widescreen usage?

I play fine with a 9600np (fanless also, but a side fan blows on it). The game set most everything to low at 800x600 but still looks ok. Havent checked the frame rate yet but its very smooth.

P4 2.4 and 512 ram

90FPS all the time or just max? what is the lowest during firefights?
