BF2 players..HELP

the hit detetection issue if isolated could be a hack or cheating person. just last night i was on up top of a roof doing a little recon for my mataes and up comes a sniper. i had the pkm. he was about 20steps from me. i started to shoot him as soon as i saw his head coming up the ladder, and continued automatic fire - my hit indiciator was turnging X and he must have taken an easy 20rnds, and with sniper they have little armor, he eneded up killing me with a pistol.

on the same serve a friend who is a captain (112,000) with a accuracy ratio of 25% and a k/d ratio of 1.74 was getting annihilated by privates even though he was playing a good game, meaning he was not having an off night. sometimes people cheat and the admins don't care.

i got access to admin rights, along with about 10 other people from the owner of the ranked server in my sig, and it is a no b.s. kind of server. no exploits at all. we are in the process of running different campaigns - AF, SF, Vanilla, pistol/knife (much fun, like the old cs days 😀 ) and there will be an admin on quite often and we will kick/ban any cheaters as they are easy to spot. i need to do a quick brush up on the codes and d/l the client of bf2cc, but it will be an very well admined server, so give it a try. give us a couple of days to get things started as we just last night decided to quite f*cking around with alot of these b.s. server. the server i think is in CA and i am in PHX,AZ and i get a ~30ms ping with no bogs.

Never ever be extremely alone by going after an empty base because the enemy commander will spot you, and the pilot will be alerted, killing you.

Never ever MOVE when you see a jet nearby. Once you move, you become slightly more visible to pilots, and he'll strafe you down.
Never move when a heli is above you. it's harder to spot a person if you do not move.

once you even hear a jet pass over, take cover ASAP before he gets close enough to see you move. Then it's too late.

ALWAYS ALWAYS spot enemy jets. always make your teammates/cmmder spot enemy jets. not only will it help your team's pilot spot him and kill him, it'll help people on the ground to see if there's a jet nearby that will kill them.

If it's a good pilot, NEVER man the AA's, since he'll make regular rounds taking out every AA on the map. If he's a crappy pilot, and you see that no one has a dominating score on the opposing team w/ a small negative support score (pilots really rack up accidental TKs), then man the AA.

Always LISTEN for heli rotors and jet noises. that will save you from death many times over.

Take my advice, because I fly a lot, and I know what to look for when I want the most kills. I'm not a good pilot, but I've seen other pilots do insaner stuff.

Once you hear artillery firing sounds, make sure that it's from your commander (just chk map). If not, and you're next to a bunch of teammates. take cover ASAP.


also, I've never had a problem w/ hit detection. Your description is obviously flawed, since of course there were times where i'd unload on a person in front of me, and he'll turn around to kill me, but it happens because:

good medics will always have medpacks around them, and heal themselves, turn around, then kill you.

you just missed them horribly, and they landed a timely shot to your head, and not your leg. that's most likely what happened.

So basically, hit another server if there's an extremely good pilot on the other team because there's nothing you can do other than avoiding him or getting killed

Or hope to have a really good pilot on your team that can counter him, or learn to fly and have you yourself pursue their really good pilot.

Pretty much. AA doesn't work. Jets are faster than missles in BF2.

you did the right thing. the game had so much potential but just ended up being one big steaming pile of sh!t.

Artillery:
If you are far enough into enemy territory to actually hear the artillery go off, this can be a very good indication. The longer you play, the more likely the sound of artillery going off works as an automatic beacon for you to start checking your surroundings. Are you in an area that is most likely about to get artilleried? Are you capping a flag in an undefended base? Are you surrounded by a large number of your own team? Did you just take a base? Now that we've identified the circumstances, what do you do about them.

"I just captured a base." Leave that base immediatly! Even if you plan to defend it, leave it momentarily, let the almost 100% certain arty strike hit and then come back to defend it.

"My entire team is entrenched in this one area" Time to start moving! Try to stay on the perimeter of your team and push whichever direction you are trying to go. Worst case, at least find a building incase your whole team gets hit. In these scenarios, remember though, you will eventually get hit by 1 or 2 artilleries, usually when your team is entrenched it means you are probably winning the war though. As long as you win the war, 2 arty deaths is not a big deal.

"I'm in a house, I should be safe right?" Sort of. If it is a small hut / bunker, make sure you stay crouched or prone. If a shell hits your building directly and you are standing straight up, there is a good chance the splash damage will still cause you to die. Staying prone may just save your life. Also remember to try to stay in the middle of the room, away from the doorways and windows to better ensure your survival. Basically, just remember you aren't invincible simply because you found shelter.

"Holy crap I can't believe this entire base is undefended!" Yea, and this is right about when you get hit by an artillery. A fun tactic to do is bring the flag down to white, making the base neutral, and then run away. Doing this can set a trap for the other team coming back to recapture it as well as keeping yourself out of the artillery. If artillery does infact hit, go back in afterwards and capture. Either way, there's no such thing as a free flag.

Last but not least, be aware of sneaky commanders. The kind who would drop a supply crate near your tank, just to keep you there long enough to get hit by the artillery (or a parachute jeep if you are on foot!).

Jets:
Jets for all the Quake fans out there, are quad damage, pentagram and eyes all rolled into one. Basically, they are the unfair advantage, the ace in the hole. A good pilot has a lot of options available to him. He can mass carpet bomb bases, leaving 20 people dead in his wake, he can hound choppers all map long, he can pick off vehicles, anything from tanks to jeeps, he can swoop down and shoot people right out of AA and other turrets. But there are some things you can do to counter this.

If you are running straight and you hear a screech in the sky, move to your right or left as soon as humanly possible. If you are in a jeep or other moderately fast vehicle, this could be enough to survive a bombing, hell I've survived some on foot even this way. The main thing to remember is hearing a screetch above you is 99% a bad thing. The one or two times it might actually be your teams jet is probably when he teamkills you accidently anyways.

If you are sitting on an AA turret getting a bunch of kills, it's time to move. Jet's look at people sitting on AA like kids look at a pinata. If you really want to be good at AA, stand next to the unit but do not actually use it until a vehicle is nearby. This draws far less suspicion from radar.

If you are in a vehicle, constantly think of ways to make yourself a more difficult target. It's harder to bomb a tank sitting in the tree line than it is to bomb a tank sitting in the middle of a road.

If you are in a chopper, turn into Jets. Jet's love to slow down to take down choppers, if you turn into them, you cut down the amount of time they are behind you, which means less time to lock on and less time to fire bullets into your vehicle. Also, try to fly your chopper in odd spots. Don't fly straight from the helipad to where the enemies are because this is most likely where the jets expect you to be.

When you are on foot, you usually don't have to worry about jets too much. Just make sure you are not in a massive group of teamates or you will get bombed. It is a waste of time for a Jet to constantly try to machine gun a small squad of men. And bombing them simply wouldn't be worth it.

if you can actually get in a jet instead of being teamkilled on the way or once you are inside it. or just get in a jet period

i lost count fo the number of times i was tked on my way to the jet, once i was inside the jet, and on my way down the runway.

most of the time i didn't bother trying to get to a jet because 99% of the time someone else was there 1st.

i havent gotten TK'ed in getting in aircrafts in a very very long time......people have learned to respect one another, most of the time now. Also the team punishing has died down a bit when its not so much your fault. This doesnt go for all servers, but usually on smaller 32 player servers people are more competitive and respectful unlike the 64 player craziness that gets everyone fired up. I remember the other day i accidentaly killed TK 3 of my teamates when they were taking over a flag(enemy troops were also all over it, explains why i shot there) but i wasnt punished by anyone because they knew i had a tank and had an upper advantage to hold the position. Again not true all times, but as it goes for aircrafts i rarely ever get TK anymore.
