BF2 issues: FPS jumps all over the place!

Here are my specs.

I'm playing the demo with the latest Cat's installed and with everything set to medium, the game seems to jump all over the place. The mouse feels jerky and the FPS jumps from 99.9 to 27.5 constantly, rendering the game nearly unplayable.

My bro's PC, nearly the same as mine, but with a 9800 Pro, runs a constant 45-50 FPS and it's smooth as silk.

What could the issue be? I can't believe it's my hardware, although the video card is limited.

I think you just ansewred you own question. Some servers some times are nearly unplayable regardless of your hardware or connection.

It happens on nearly every server.

Just to let you know how my expierience is, I just up graded to 2 gig ram, My system is AMD 64 3400+ 2 gig ram, 6800GT+ Soundblaster something and high speed broadband, some ranked (I only play ranked) servers are a screenshow though ill have a ping less than 100, If I keep trying ill find a server with fluid play. Its frustring and if you read the BF2 forums its common. Pray for a patch or cuss a crappy game. Your call.
