I'm sure you were referring to the x-connect I had in the orignal post... I've updated it to clear confusion. x-connect isn't even a consideration now. no worries there.

Good suggestion. That will be the next upgrade, just have to offload the current chips we already have so I can keep the dual channel going.

G70 - geforce 7800 - june 21st - probably $399 for 6800GT replacement and $499 for Ultra replacement
R520 - July 26th - same pricing $399 for X800Pro/XL replacement, $499 for X800XT/PE replacement

1. prices wont be at MSRP for the most part, I believe, for at least 2 weeks, but I remember last time at launch there were some nice deals and MSRP pricing on latest cards -- so you could get lucky

2. ATI cards are rumoured to be having problems. July 26th launch might be a paper launch or delayed.

Thanks for the info... I'm at work and trying to do too many things at once. Work is overratted anyway. 😛 They will probably frown at my benchmarks today and upgrade me for a new model. Then I'll consider it a BF2 vacation... see good in bad right?

Anyway back to the subject. This is tough, I may go ATI just for this reason so I could pair it with the R series cards later. Depends on what happens with crossfire I guess.

OK, I think I'm set with my new system specs in the original post. I decided on the Hitachi SataII 250GB based on some information I gathered on their platters and heads.

The only question I have now is the 3000+... I'm considering the 3200+ but can't really afford the extra $50 at this point. I've heard the dividers and HTT settings make a difference though but I don't know if this board will handle light or heavy oc'n on this board. Just 2 questions and I think I'm done:

Do you know if this system will handle an OC around 9x250 (give or take)?
Do you think the stock HSF handle it also? I plan to get a better one later at which point I'll push it further?

Thanks for the help everyone, you all rock per usual!

is that total or the game taking that much in itself?

sorry, it looks like the game easily takes 700MB+, that was total and all i have running is zonealarm, a software firewall mbm and dumeter and some basic system services, nothing big.

also, this is just for the one map
