I know this has been posted before, because this is where I found the solution to the problem.

FYI for those of you who recently purchased a Dual Core CPU & playing BF2 with it for the 1st time.

Once the game has loaded, go to your Desktop & hit CTRL+ALT+DEL & go into Task Manager. Processes>Right Click BF2>Set Affinity>Uncheck CPU 1. Click OK. Done.

This should stop the game from freezing & network connection problems, as long as your system meets the requirements to play the game.

Unfortunately for the creators of BF2 they only need to patch the game correctly to aleviate this issue which doesn't happen in any other game I have played.

I agree. I put this FYI up because I remember how long it took me to locate the fix.

I have zero problems playing BF2 with my 4400x2, or any other game for that matter, and I have alot of games, fyi.
Maybe it's my system build or whatnot, but really, no connection issues no studder, freezes, lockups, nothing. Maybe the most recent patch fixed some things but I never had a problem in the first place either.
Thank God...:D

Lucky you...there was tons of people complaining about BF2 specifically though.

If I remember correctly there was a dual core patch that came out. Maybe it was for COD2...

The latest BF2 patch should cover that anyway.

I have the latest patch & the problem still exists.

Did you install M$'s dual core patch and AMD's dual core drivers (if you're using AMD) - I need to correct my previous post and will say AFTER I installed these patches no problems existed but yes I did get some issues with games, but that was shortly after I installed the new CPU, and BF2 wasn't installed at the time. I forget exactly which games had issues, one might have been far cry...
Try those patches if you haven't already, both did the trick for me :)

I will install both patches this afternoon & report the results. Thanks.

I've had a recurring issue with BF2 causing a BSOD in nvdisp4.dll. It didn't happen on my P4, with the same 6800GT, so I have assumed it is some compatibility issue with the X2 4400+ or the 939 mobo (Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939). Setting affinity has never worked to fix the problem, and so unfortunately at this point I am just not playing it any more.

I have no problems with COD2, Americas Army, or any other game that I play.

I have an Opteron 165 and never had problems playing BF2 on it, by letting the CPU affinity as default or by setting it to one specific core.
