BF2 frame rates

On some maps I'll get a steady 80-100 fps with 6x AA/16 AF/High quality AF, and every eye candy setting maxed out at 1024x768. Just played one map that raped my system. During battle at times I would drop to 25-40 fps. Does this sound normal for a X1950XT?

If you throw enough at it, you can choke out any video card. Even the 8800 cards.

BF2 tends to fluctuate dramatically based on the number of bots/players as well as the overall size of the map. Compare the size of the maps you were in and the number of players/bots in each and you will get your answer for the wide variance. If you are using really large custom maps or mods that dramatically increase the number of bots, then that would be an issue as well.

No it seems that maybe the server was lagging :! I have been playing BF2 since it came out !! Never had any performance issue just some random lagging. Play that map offline and see if you lag.

He's running 1024x768. VRAM should have nothing to do with it.

There's no reason why your card should be choking at 1024x768.
