BF2/FEAR memory upgrade

Right now I have two sticks (512x2) of geil ddr500 2.5-4-4-7-1T at ddr490 2.5-3-3-5-1T. Money is an issue and I would like to know whether getting another 512MB of ram or another 1GB would be better. On newegg the 256x2 geil is ~$70

The 1GB kit is ~$140

I can get the 1GB kit but I would like to save money. So I was wondering, do games like BF2 use 1GB+ and thats why people get two gigs or because it actually uses 1.5GB+? Also I have a 3500+ venice so I will drop to 2T but not to 333 MHz and hopefully I'll be able to keep my OC at 2700 MHz on the cpu and 245 MHz on the ram. Any suggestions would be great. Also where can I check whether or not my ram is double sided so maybe, just maybe, I can keep the 2GB at 1T.

All I know is that I added a second gig and I'm almost always the first person loaded in a BF2 game nowadays, without any initial stuttering. My photo work goes faster too now. 😉

I don't think I have ever seen my BF2 using more than 1.4gb total in the windows task manager, so 1.5 should cut it if you don't want to spend the $

Thx for the replies. Now has anyone who has upgraded from one to two gigs seen an increase in FPS or just faster loading times/less studdering?
