hi all, iam having 2 problems playing bf2, when chose a server, it loads as normal then half way trough, i hear this popping sound trough my speakers, then bamm the game crashes to the desktop, after a few more attempts its ok, i think its related to my onbord sound, i got these problems just after i updated my nvidia sound drivers, also when i load into windows i get no sound ,but when i use media player its ok, or in a game as well, but when i put my sound card back in, but i got different kind of sound probelms, for example when i boot up into windows i get a huge sound distortion, and popping and flicking sound only sometimes while playing a game, my other bf2 issuse is if i overclock my comp, to this, 228fsb, muti, 9x, htt 4, cpu 1.450, ram 2.7, so i tryed 228fsb, mutl 10x, htt 4, cpu 1.450, ram 2.7 no Dif, p.s i've never had a problems with bf2 or overclocking my comp before

The game is flaky, bottom line. Some people never have an issue, while others have issues they can't seem to get rid of. I'm one of the latter, as I have hard-crash issues since I first installed the game.

The popping doesn't necessarily mean that the issue is related to your sound. The sound card requires regular attention from the CPU in order to operate correctly, and when a game crashes the system and brings the CPU to a halt the DSP chip on the sound card continues trying to work with what it can get, which is usually garbage at that point.

is your machine completely stable at those o/cs withouth bf2? like prime95, memtest and looping some type of hard gpu program for hours?

I have to agree with above post. My first 6 months with that game It was solid no issues. Then all of a sudden I think it was the 1.3 patch cause crashing galore.

I suggest u uninstall BF2, delete all the remaining folders aswell.
Download the full patch not incremental and reinstall.

Also before doing any of this put your machine back to stock and play if the crashing stops u know what the issue is!

I had similar problems with 1.3 (except I would crash as soon as I clicked "join game"). It's been a LOT better with the 1.4 patch.

I also recommend trying an uninstall/defrag & cleanup/reinstall. A reinstall did help a couple of friends of mine.
