I think the first bug he encountered was buying an EA game :(

Its ridiculous that they are allowed to release games with such bugs. If a processor or even something like a cup or a toaster had even 1 or 2 minor defects, they'd be scrapped or sold off cheap as damaged goods.

Maybe we should demand that EA games only cost £10 because they are badly damaged upon purchase.

I'm still pissed off at the fact that I can't create multiple nicknames per accounts.

No problems here.

Yea the browser seems the same. No issues here. Some of these maps are awesome!! And the g00ks have kits that weren't in the demo. Requires study and thought. Who knew??

Are you running a program like ZoneAlarm? If so - you will have to go into the ZA Program controls and allow BF2 access. That is what I had to do and then NO more problems like that anyway.

Good Luck!

That requires having several disposable email addresses.

And I'm enjoying the game, but it seems very buggy. All of the menu's are really slow...to the point where I think the game crashed. THe internet game browser sometimes doesn't report ping times, and in general there is lots of stuttering and hickups. This is on an A64 3200+ with 1.5GBs RAM, 6800GT, and 3mb cable.

not to mention the bug that doesnt seem to allow me to have my forward and backwards keys on different controlers (mouse and keyboard) so im forced to use the middle mousewheel button to move backwards since i use the right mouse button to go forward. its quite awkward...

Just tried it and already crashed 3 times. This is the only game i played in my current rig that crashes and windows cannot recover from. Had to use the hard reset button.

Lol, this game has more than a few bugs. One that really stood out was when my friend set up a server on his Linux box and after we finished every round, all of the players would be kicked. It's not just his either, apparently it's a big issue.

Agreed, it feels very unpolished. I am running on 1.8Ghz AMD 64, 1GB RAM, X800XL and 3mbit/30kbit Cable....

They said they would fix the menu issuses, but they sure as hell haven't shown me any improvement.

Anyone know of any mature "BF2" forums? The ones I've been too kinda suck...

BF1 with DC is one of the best games made. Perfectly stable, enjoyable. BF2 for a v1.0 release is exceptionally stable and bug free for me. I'd recommend doing a clean install before bitching about it. Make sure you install today's nvidia drivers (with a clean install of xp) then see how it goes.

I decided to give it one last try before throwing the cds back in the box to return it. After about 10 min the game finally started lol. Its getting better now, usually takes around 3 minutes to start up. Its still a pretty annoying bug.

I had to do a full wipe for BF2 as I was previously running Win2k (still can't believe I got forced into XP) and have been pretty irritated with the experience overall. Not only does XP run dogged by comparison to 2k, but even with a fresh install BF2 was a bitch to get running. Screens take forever to respond, match finder is as piss-poor as it was with BF:V and the 2-3 minutes it takes to load a map and 'verify' the settings before playing is absurd. Maybe I'm just too used to games like Counterstrike and Operation Flashpoint, heh.

One should not be required to wipe their drive and perform a fresh OS install in order to expect a smooth gaming experience.

This is quite typical of EA.

That's an easy one to fix. Set the key you want to use as "backward" in the SECONDARY slot for backward. It'll take it there and keep it.

What are you smoking? No one should have to reinstall an OS, change drivers, and otherwise jump through hoops to get a game going.

EA's QA is just sh*t. That's about the whole story.
