I am relatively new to this gaming thing, had bf but really couldn't get into for a number of reasons but have since purchased bf2 and enjoy it immensley. My question is, what will Call of Duty give you that BF2 doesn't? Or for that matter any of the other war themed games. Isn't Wolfstein about war to? Anyway, I was hoping some of you more enlightened gamers could fill me in on what to expect in the upcoming future with gaming.

Up until now I was stuck on Halo (spawn, go get killed or kill someone and try to ge the flag) and it has held my interest since Xmas. Variations (King of the Hill, Oddball were catchy and fun to play offering some variety). BF2 is a different animal to say the least.

Hope to hear from you!!

I loved the original COD but haven't kept up with the features of COD2. The COD series focuses more on the single-player compaign, where the BF series doesn't....AT ALL. Multiplayer in COD was great as well, but doesn't have the team features and depth of BF in this area.

Call of Duty is strictly FPS (First person shooter). It has grenades, sniper rifles, automatics, etc. but no vehicles in the first one. However in the expansion pack it does have a few tanks.. It's also generall less laggy because of a softer graphics system, and everyone only gets 1 grenade I think it is.

Battlefield2 has like the most demanding requirements, and it is not just FPS.. It has helicopters, jets, humvees, tanks, mounted machine guns, several grenades to everyone, ammo boxes, medics, etc etc.

If by BF1 you mean bf1942 ... no way.

Oh yeah if BF2 is anywhere similar to 42 which it pretty muhc has to be sense everyone left that game for bf2, bf2 is going to be like an AOL Chat room while your playing.

COD people communicate very little.

Well I've never played COD. But I have Played BF42 and BFV before BF2 so I'll comment on that. Its the same but playes different. Its more tactal, and Squads are large here. I think the AOL kiddies are getting fustrated but then I've thought that before. I'm liking it more than I expected or really should as I'm not an FPS kinda guy. Somehow it gets in your face more than the previous titles. And yes, the battlefield series is all about the vechiecles.

I was talking about Multy Player when I posted that. COD original has a couple tanker missions unless I confused that with the expansion, but the online original COD Has no vehicles except stationary un-usable ones for decoration.

the expansion has tanks in many of the maps for multiplayer

I know what im talking a bout I've played em sense they came out :D

COD is faster, and more of a pure deathmatch kinda play compared to BF. I wouldn't really say one is better than the other, but I play BF more because of the team play. I actually wish the motion and weapons accuracy in the BF series was like COD.

COD only has one expansion pack, United Offensive.

Call of Duty has a single player campaign which is completely different from playing against battlefield's bots.

And the people that say COD players in multiplayer don't communicate as much, it all depends on which server you join. I've seen about the same communication between BF1942 and COD...meaning it varies.

Call of Duty multiplayer is more of a infantry combat game. There are vehicles in United Offensive, but that only makes it a ground combat game. Infantry are still the main role. There are also many gametypes to choose from, and Deathmatch is just one of them. In United Offensive there's (team) deathmatch, capture the flag, domination (ala Battlefield), Base Assault and some others. There are also several popular mods for Call of Duty and custom map servers.

Whichever you like better is a matter of which you have more fun at. They can't really be compared because their gameplay and focus is just much different. I would suggest playing both of them though and deciding from there :)

COD people communicate very little.

cause CoD people use teamspeak and ventrillo. Also, imo, battlefield plays more like the unreal tournament style. very little fine tactics and more towards the "rush that way, i'll go this way. take out as many as you can with that tank". whereas call of duty requires sneaking and going prone alot more often.

Well said. I like them both. I have played COD & COD:UO since they came out, COD:UO has tanks and jeeps. COD has excellent net code and plays very smoothly and looks good on everything from a Ti4200 on up. I have only played the BF2 demo, but have always liked the wide variety of vehicles BF has to offer.
