Open the file called: "VideoDefault.con" with Notepad.

It should look like this:
--------------------------------------------- -----------------
renderer.setFullScreen 1
renderer.fieldOfView 1
renderer.globalLodRadius 1
renderer.globalLodRadiusScaleFactor 5
console.showStats 0
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

--------------------------------------------- -----------------

Now look at this value:
"renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1" and change the 1 to a 0 (zero).

?

Ok just tried it...one second to test.

I knew it. AFTER ALL THAT BITCHING, NOW YOU FINALLY TRIED IT.

If it works, please go castrate yourself. You need to get the fvck out of the gene pool as soon as possible.

Ok that worked, thanks. Game looks pretty fun. Thanks GUNBUSTER.

You would think that the developers would have had the common sense to integrate such a simple fix into their updates. If I was average Joe and didn't have upstanding people like Gunbuster to help, I would never have gotten this working.

And nanobug, you were a tech support??? That must not have worked out real well for you seeing your penchant for profanity and violence. Perhaps it's time for a career change...pimp maybe? or gangsta-hoe.

PS - my tirade has nothing to do with any of you. It is for all the crappy developers out there that do not take the simple courtesy to their customers to test their games and make them runable out of the box. That's what is aggravating. If I was as lax about my job people would die every day.

I mean everyone ragged on Halo, but one click and I was online and playing.

You would think that someone who frequents a tech forum would have the common sense to:

A) Post their problem in the right forum
B) Actually try the solutions they are given before complaining again that their problem isn't solved.

further proof that your reading comprehension is well below where it should be:

People like you made me feel homicidal when I worked tech support.

Note how I said worked? That implies past-tense.

The tweaktown guide is the best I have seen for BF1942,

Battlefield 1942 Tweak Guide

I am getting a strange background video corruption since loading the 1.6 patch. It sort of looks like huge trintron stripes in the background.

There was also a strange problem on a Coral Sea map where I could not stop moving.

Has anyone else had problems with the new patch?

I do have the DC mod loaded.

What you fail to realize is that for MOST PEOPLE the game DOES WORK out of the box. You are a very small minority, and there is a simple fix available for your problem. Developers can't forsee the future, and it's not like they're designing life support systems for a deep space mission. Its a video game. It runs on nearly all hardware combinations with no problems at all. Considering the ever-evolving state of computer hardware, that is no small feat.

For every game that you've never had a problem with, there are hundreds if not thousands of other people who have had problems with those games.

As i have been trying to impress upon you, I have fairly standard equipment here. Nothing exotic. WinXP, Radeon, Dell monitor. I bet more then 20% of EA's potential customers have a similar setup. It's not like I am running a STB Lightspeed 128 here.

And if they wont add this simple fix to their updates then that is just sheer apathy for their customers. No sir, that dog won't hunt.

bf1942 makes my g/fs ears bleed, should she see a doc? or will she be ok? pics? wtf? is the sound volume too high? where's the patch? is the patch a sterile bandage? if so will we still be able to have kids?

why or why not? explain in 300 words or less (20 points).

extra credit: should I be band?

I like the Red Hot Chili Peppers a bunch.

I would hate to see you replace them.

Well, I just installed the 1.6 update downloaded directly from EA and I don't have any issues playing DC 0.6F as of yet :)

I have BF1942 installed on 3 different computers in my house, and have never had a problem with anything...

How can this be?

That's it Snatch, blame EA and PC gaming. How convinent. I have the game and I don't need to set my desktop at 800x600 resolution. The game plays fine on my end. Stop blaming the game developers and I like what you said.. "back to Halo." Hmm.. I wonder if your just bitching because your trolling.

As stated, I've had the original game, expansion packs and all work as advertised.

yup poor programing, my issues are with punkbuster, eversince it was added(and only on pb "enhanced" servers) I can only play a server for 15min. then get a failed to updated punkbuster client message and a 2min. time out. there are better ways to stop smacktards than punkbuster. a voting system and tk system are all that's needed to keep the riff raff out of popular servers.

I owe all of you a big thank you

I have never been totally satisfied with BF1942, never having run at the exact res/refresh I wanted and always having some choppiness ever since two or 3 formats ago... Now it's been pointed out to me that it was my NAV (Duh) and the lines to allow total override of the res settings were of HUGE help... TVYM.

edit: er... umm... I can get 1152 at any refresh I want... thats a big help... but it wont let me pick 1280x1024... just 1280x960... weird...

punkbuster is giving fits to alot of people, same 15min. issue before the server boots them. the pb_security 0 doesn't seem to help but a select few. if Allied Assault weren't an EA game ( ) I'd get it instead.

Yeah, you can. That's how I got around the 60hz problem in 1942.

I will have to agree that the server browser sucks. They improved it in 1.6 so now it doesn't take 5 seconds to sort the damn thing but it still sucks. I use the All Seeing Eye externally now so I really could care less.
