BF1942 reinstall issues

Upon trying to reinstall BF1942 i'm getting two error messages that appear to be Direct X and/or Direct Draw related. However when i run DxDiag, all test pass. The two messages are in quotes below. Thanks in advace for any help.

"String MSGBOX_NO_DDRAW_NO_VERSION was found in string table"

"MSGBOX_NO_DDRAW_NO_VERSION (DX Setup-a)"

I still play the demo. That's an awesome game. I wish you would give me a copy.
