boy this is a tough call. i downloaded gbpvr and it's pretty nice - interface looks good, setup was easy, way more features than btv - i really like the comics plugin! my only complaints are that it isn't quite as robust in the options it gives you record shows as btv, and requires some not-too-obvious key combos to perform some functions. i assume it'll be easy to use with my hauppauge remote tho. in one important area it beats btv hands down - it's way faster! it drives me nuts how long it takes btv to load and exit, and how long it takes to start viewing tv. gbpvr is instantaneous. i'd really like to know why the heck btv is so slow.

so, here's the comparison:
btv, looks great, great tv guide, great control of recording, but slow and not free
gbpvr, not quite as pretty, but more features and fast and FREE!

think i'll try media portal ...

Quick question cause I didn't see it on the gbpvr page. Does gbpvr have a "record all episodes" and "record all new episodes" options like beyond tv? The "record all new episodes" option is the reason I ditched MCE and went back to beyond tv, just wanted to know before I tried out gbpvr.

no, gbpvr doesn't have "record all new" feature. it can also be a pain to find the show you want - for some reason it doesn't list smallville, for instance. i think i'm sticking with btv.

does anything but BT allow me to watch live tv over my home network / internet? I have sage installed, but never really got around to setting it up. also have media portal on there. i still havent found anything that looks as good or runs without trouble like the stock software.
Eventually im gonna build a Myth box... (assuming i can stream live tv to a windows machine on the home network)

if this is the only software that can do it, im gonna jump on it.

Anyone know if BTV is the only program that streams liveTV over the internet?

Does anyone know a good MPEG-2 video editor to use to edit BTV recordings?

I want to cut commercials and make DVD's of certain recorded shows.
TMPGEnc.

huesmann. have you ever made an svcd compliation of episodes using TMPGEnc?? I have an old anime that is in divx format that I want to convert to SVCD but it is pain the butt it seams.

I've been using BeyondTV for quite awhile but was wondering how hard is it to stream TV over the internet? And how much bandwidth would that take?

Is that just to stream over the Internet cause right now i can stream over my network no problem.. j/w wondering what different to do to stream over internet.

I'd like to know of a free software package that streams over network (just lan is sufficient for me). Being able to switch channels over the network is a must.

The trick is to install the software card first, configure the webstream and then install the hardware card.
